NEW PDP BOT MEMBERS EMERGE AS GOVERNORS SET DIRECTION

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will today (Monday) inaugurate new members of its Board of Trustees (BoT) at the party’s national headquarters in Abuja.

This was confirmed in a circular signed by the PDP Director of Publicity, Chinwe Nnorom, and dated May 11, 2025.

“With reference to the subject above, please be informed that the PDP Board of Trustees has scheduled the inauguration of its new members.

“The event is set to take place on Monday, May 12, 2025, at the NEC Hall (Ground Floor), PDP National Headquarters,” the statement read.

The ceremony, scheduled for 11 a.m. at the NEC Hall, Wadata Plaza, comes as the party tries to revive its top advisory body following reports that a large number of BoT members had been inactive. It is understood that 85 out of 127 BoT members were no longer participating in party matters.

The PDP hopes the new BoT members will bring fresh energy to the board and help address rising internal issues.

According to the PDP Constitution (2017 as amended), the BoT acts as the party’s conscience. It helps maintain party values, advises on policies, resolves disputes, and protects the party’s image and assets.

The board includes former Presidents, Vice Presidents, Senate Presidents, Speakers, past and serving National Chairmen, founding members, and top party leaders from every state and region.

Meanwhile, PDP governors and major stakeholders met in Abuja on Sunday at the Bauchi State Governor’s Lodge to address the party’s internal challenges and agree on a direction ahead of the upcoming NEC meeting and National Elective Convention.

Those at the meeting included Governors Ademola Adeleke (Osun), Caleb Mutfwang (Plateau), Seyi Makinde (Oyo), Ahmadu Fintiri (Adamawa), Peter Mbah (Enugu), and Dauda Lawal (Zamfara).

The meeting was led by Bauchi State Governor and PDP Governors’ Forum Chairman, Bala Mohammed.

Other key figures present were Acting National Chairman Umar Damagum, BoT Secretary Ahmed Makarfi, and several former governors like Bukola Saraki, Aminu Tambuwal, Sule Lamido, Udom Emmanuel, Samuel Ortom, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, Olagunsoye Oyinlola, Seriake Dickson, Babangida Muazu, and Adamu Muazu.

The high-level meeting, which followed earlier talks in Ibadan, aims to unite the party’s top figures, resolve leadership disputes, and prepare for future elections.
