ENUGU LGA LAUNCHES DIASPORA DESK
Nsukka Local Government Area of Enugu State has launched a diaspora desk to engage with Nsukka indigenes in the diaspora towards the development of the local government area.
The office, tagged Nsukka Local Government Council Diaspora Desk, has as its terms of reference to bridge the gap between indigenes in the diaspora and the local government’s developmental projects; create a stronger connection between Nsukka people in the diaspora and their roots; attract foreign investments; and build strong relationships between the local government and Nsukka people worldwide.
The Chairman of the desk, Rev. Mike Ugwu, in a release on Thursday, called on the natives of the local government to key into the technical desk by registering with it to contribute their quotas in the development of the LGA.
He called on them to form blocs and chapters in different cities and countries and foster unity and cooperation among Nsukka people worldwide, adding that “this initiative has the potential to positively impact the lives of Nsukka people and contribute to the area’s development”.
He called on various stakeholders in the LGA, including traditional rulers, town union presidents, ward councillors, chairmen of various associations, and the youth, to key into the scheme.
He said the desk “would create opportunities for economic growth, cultural exchange and community engagement in the LGA” and thanked the council chairman, Engr Jude Asogwa, for the opportunity to serve the people of Nsukka.
