GOV MBAH APPROVES RELEASE OF N290.8M FOR PAYMENT OF GRATUITIES, PENSIONS FOR ENUGU RETIREES

Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Mbah, has approved the release of the sum of N290.8 million for the payment of gratuities and related pensions of 37 state workers, who retired in the month of February 2025.

Recall that the government had earlier settled the gratuities and related pensions of workers, who retired in January 2025.

This is in keeping with Governor Peter Mbah’s promise to ensure that every worker in the state gets his or her entitlement upon retirement.

The payment of the gratuities and related pension entitlements, according to the government, would help to improve the living standard of the senior citizens, raise their purchasing power, and promote strong and sustainable economic growth in the state.

It would also help to build workers’ faith in the system, knowing that they would get their benefits to live a decent life after service.

Meanwhile, the Enugu State Government is currently carrying out a verification of civil servants, who retired from 2010 to 2024 with a view to commence clearing of the backlogs of the gratuities and any outstanding related benefits .
