LP CARETAKER CHAIRMAN, NENADI USMAN, HAILS SUPREME COURT JUDGEMENT THAT SACKED ABURE

Senator Nenadi Usman, Chairman of the Labour Party (LP) Caretaker Committee, has described the recent Supreme Court judgment removing Julius Abure as the party’s National Chairman as a triumph for democracy and the rule of law.

The Supreme Court, in a unanimous decision by a five-member panel, overturned the earlier ruling of the Court of Appeal in Abuja, which had recognized Abure as LP’s National Chairman. The apex court held that the appellate court lacked the jurisdiction to affirm Abure’s leadership.

Reacting to the judgment, Senator Usman emphasized that the ruling marks a significant turning point for the Labour Party and the nation’s democratic process.

“The recent ruling by the Supreme Court, which allowed the appeal filed by Senator Nenadi Usman, declaring it meritorious, while dismissing the cross-appeal filed by the Abure faction of the Labour Party as unmeritorious, is a victory for the rule of law and a significant milestone for our democracy,” the statement read.

Usman, however, called for unity within the party, urging members to focus on the broader goal of building a better Nigeria rather than engaging in internal strife.Nigerian cultural tours

“This is not a time for triumphalism—there is no victor and no vanquished,” she said. “What matters most is our shared commitment to the ideals and aspirations of the Labour Party and the Nigerian people. We must now come together, united in purpose and vision, to move the party forward.”

She reaffirmed that the Labour Party remains a united and indivisible family, dedicated to promoting justice, equity, and people-focused governance.

“We call on all party members, supporters, and stakeholders to remain calm, focused, and committed to the democratic ideals that bind us,” Usman concluded.
