FORMER ENUGU LABOUR PARTY GOVERNORSHIP CANDIDATE, CHIJIOKE EDEOGA, RETURNS TO PDP
The Labour party Governorship candidate in 2023 general election, Hon. Barr. Chijioke Edeoga, has rejoined PDP, following appeals from the State Leadership of the party, led by Dr. Martins Chukwunweike.
Dr. Chukwunweike and members of the state executives had visited Barr. Edeoga, months ago in his Enugu residence to appeal to him to rejoin the PDP, a Party he was a founding member and has remained a resourceful member of the party until his exit in 2022.
Edeoga’s re-entry into the PDP after months of consultation draws the curtain of opposition politics in Enugu State.
His emergence as the Labour Party Governorship candidate in 2023, invigorated opposition and catapulted the party to victory, winning majority seats in the State, National Assembly in Enugu State and narrowly missed the governorship due to compromised system.
Barr. Edeoga, while rejoining the PDP, appreciated the State chairman of PDP, Dr. Martins Chukwunweike for midwifing the process of his return which crystalized today.
He stated that His Excellency Barr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, has demonstrated rare and uncommon leadership since assumption of office, as governor of Enugu State, breaking new grounds and repositioning the state.
He noted that his decision to rejoin the PDP steams from Governor Mbah’s obvious commitment to development and upliftment of the state, which aligns with his own vision for the state, had he been declared governor.
Barr. Edeoga says he is happy to return to the PDP, noting that his driving force in politics is the passion to serve and since the governor is doing well, he has every reason to support him in the interest of the state.
Following Edeoga’s return to the PDP, the governor has less to worry about opposition in Enugu State but more development.
