FEMALE LEGISLATIVE AIDES HONOUR AKPABIO FOR BEING GENDER-FRIENDLY

Amidst the ongoing controversy surrounding suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s allegations against Senate President Godswill Akpabio, female legislative aides of the 10th Senate have publicly expressed their appreciation for Akpabio’s leadership, describing him as gender-friendly, inclusive, and fair.

The aides emphasized Akpabio’s commitment to women’s empowerment within the legislative arm of government. They highlighted his efforts in ensuring female aides and lawmakers receive equal opportunities, adding that his leadership has fostered a more inclusive working environment in the National Assembly.

“We acknowledge and appreciate the Senate President’s unwavering support for women in politics and governance. His tenure has seen increased inclusivity, and we stand by his efforts in promoting fairness and equity,” the statement read.

This comes as Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan faces suspension over what the Senate described as gross misconduct. While her allegations against Akpabio have stirred political tension, the show of support from female legislative aides suggests a divided perspective on the matter within the Senate.

The letter detailing this invitation was sent by Dr. Tammy Danagogo, the Secretary to the State Government, to Rt. Hon. Martin Amaewhule, the Speaker of the House.
