THERE’S NO VANDALISATION OF ELECTRICITY INSTALLATIONS IN ENUGU COMMUNITY – CHIEF ENEOLI
A former President General of Udi Town Union, Chief Emmanuel Eneoli, has said that there was no truth in the allegation made by one Flavour Eze and Benjamin Onyia about vandalisation of electricity installations at Umuoka Village in Udi town, Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State.
Reacting to the allegation as published in an online medium, Chief Eneoli said “if you go to Umuoka now, you will see that everything is intact, all the electrical wires are intact, the transformers are intact, and there had not been any disruption of electricity at any time in the village. Where and when was that vandalisation?”, he asked.
He went further to say that he is not also causing or inciting communal war in Udi community as alleged, noting that he has reputation for integrity and selfless leadership based on the principles of peace, unity, and collective good of our people.
Chief Eneoli stated that apart from being the immediate past President General of Udi town Union and a former Councillor in the community, he equally served as Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the Governor of Enugu State for eight years, pointing out that it was during that period that he attracted a brand new transformer to the village. How then would he turn round to vandalise the same project which he attracted?, he further queried.
The truth of the matter, according to Chief Eneoli, was that Benjamin Onyia, who was Chairman of Umuoka Village, and the entire members of his executive, were removed from office in April last year due to incompetence, gross abuse of office and using the police to harass and intimidate people of the community.
He stated that when Benjamin Onyia learnt about the move to set up a Caretaker Committee to run the affairs of the village pending election of a new executive committee, he rushed to the court to stop it, but did not succeed as the request was thrown out by the court on December 20, 2024.
Chief Eneoli further informed that on December 26, 2024, the Igwe-in-Council of Udi town, in conjunction with the elders of the community, inaugurated a Caretaker Committee for the village.
He described as spurious, malicious, wicked and totally unfounded, allegation that electricity installations in Umuoka were vandalized and challenged anybody in doubt to take a trip to the village and see that everything was intact.
Chief Eneoli stated that Benjamin Onyia and Flavor Eze’s allegations of vandalisation of the community’s electricity installations were rantings of drowning men and said that nemesis would soon catch up with them.
