APPEAL COURT REAFFIRMS JULIUS ABURE AS LABOUR PARTY NATIONAL CHAIRMAN The Abuja division of the Court of Appeal has reiterated that Julius Abure remains the National Chairman of the Labour Party. A three-member panel of the appellate court in a judgement delivered by Justice Hamma Barka, held that its judgement of November 13, 2024, which recognizes Abure as national chairman subsists and has not been set aside by any court. Barka made the declaration on Friday while delivering judgement in two separate appeals filed by Senator Esther Nenadi Usman and the caretaker committee and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The appellate court in the two separate appeals held that it did not delve into the issue of the leadership of the Labour Party, because such issues are not justiciable. According to the appellate court, anything that is done outside jurisdiction amounts to a nullity. Hence the judgement of the Federal High Court delivered on October 8, 2024 by Justice Emeka Nwite is of no effect because it was delivered without jurisdiction. “We cannot say this appeal fails or succeed because the lower court lacked jurisdiction to entertain the suit in the first place”, Barka held. While striking out the suit for want of jurisdiction, he held that the appellate relied on its previous judgement of November 13 last year to hold that “Abure Remains National Chairman of the Labour Party”.

WIKE’S PARTICIPATION IN APC GOVT REASON FOR PDP CRISIS – EX-PARTY PUBLICITY SCRIBE

WIKE’S PARTICIPATION IN APC GOVT REASON FOR PDP CRISIS – EX-PARTY PUBLICTY SCRIBE Former National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Kola Ologbodiyan, has said that the involvement of Nyesom Wike, the FCT Minister, in the governance of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has created room for the collapse of the PDP. Ologbodiyan claimed that there were attempts to reduce the Peoples Democratic Party to a branch or an arm of the All Progressives Congress. The statement comes amid the ongoing leadership crisis in the PDP. He made the statement while fielding questions on Arise Television’s Morning Show programme on Tuesday. He said: “First and foremost, I want to say that as a member of the Peoples Democratic Party, whatever Debo Ologunagba comes out to say is the official position of the Peoples Democratic Party as the substantive National Publicity Secretary of the party. “So I cannot detach myself from whatever has come out in respect of the issues that he has forthrightly said that legitimately and constitutionally, Sunday Ude Okoye is the person recognized by the party, and not until he says otherwise, I think that is constitutional. “On the issue of external assault from the APC or the principals in the APC, you recall that at every situation in which we have discussed the PDP on this platform, in which I have been involved, I have always made the position known that there are attempts to reduce the Peoples Democratic Party to a branch or an arm of the All Progressives Congress. “I have also gone further to say that the involvement of the former presidential aspirant on the platform of the party and current Minister of FCT and former Governor of Rivers, in the governance of the All Progressives Congress has created room that can lead to the collapse of the Peoples Democratic Party. That’s a fact.”
