WIKE CANNOT SURVIVE WHERE THERE Is PEACE – ODILI S EX-COMMISSIONER ERIC BRIGGS

A former Commissioner for Works and later Water Resources during Peter Odili’s administration in Rivers State, David Briggs, has accused the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, of thriving in conflict and creating crises to maintain political relevance.
Briggs, who now serves as the Chairman of the Rivers State Universal Basic Education Board, made the allegations while addressing journalists on Saturday in Port Harcourt, the state capital.

He dismissed Wike’s recent claims of reviving Odili’s political career, crediting the former governor with Wike’s rise in politics.

Briggs asserted that Wike’s second tenure as Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area was made possible by Odili’s intervention.

He explained that Odili had reinstated Wike’s name on the nomination list, paving the way for his political advancement.

“The public should disregard Wike’s comments about Dr. Odili,” Briggs said, describing Wike as a person who “cannot and will not survive where there is peace.”

Briggs accused Wike of deliberately inciting crises across Rivers State to maintain his influence, citing the recent lull in political tensions after a court ruling restored federal allocations to the state government.

“Since the court judgement concerning the release of federal allocation to the state government, Rivers State has been enjoying peace. Wike, however, created problems so that he will remain the beneficiary,” Briggs alleged.

He also claimed Wike was behind ongoing political tensions in several local government areas to maintain control.

Briggs further recalled how Wike’s political success, including his governorship bid, was facilitated by Odili and former First Lady Patience Jonathan.

He referenced a viral video showing Wike being introduced to Odili by Patience Jonathan for political endorsement.

“Wike’s comments are insulting to Odili and the people of Rivers State. Dr. Odili played a significant role in building the state’s political structure and in Wike’s political rise,” Briggs said.

Briggs expressed disappointment that President Bola Tinubu had not called Wike to order, warning that Rivers people would no longer tolerate Wike’s alleged excesses.

“He should apologize to the people of Rivers State for his actions, or he risks facing further revelations about his conduct,” Briggs warned.

THEY’RE AFTER MY LIFE – PETER OBI ALLEGES OVER CRITICISM OF TINUBU ADMINISTRATION Peter Obi, the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate in the 2023 elections, says his life is under threat because of his criticism of President Bola Tinubu’s administration. The former governor of Anambra made the allegation after Felix Morka, national spokesperson of the All Progressives Congress (APC), said, “Peter Obi has crossed the line so many times and has it coming to him whatever he gets”. During an interview with Arise Television, Morka described Obi as an “irrational being” and slammed his public commentary. The APC spokesperson labelled Obi’s claims as “ridiculous” and “deceptive,” criticising his eight-year tenure as Anambra governor for lacking legacy. He added that Obi needs to figure out why he lost the 2023 presidential election and should stop being dishonest. Obi, in his New Year message to Nigerians, criticised Tinubu and expressed concerns over “institutional corruption, mismanagement, poverty, hardship, and an escalating debt profile”. He noted that “corruption has been deeply entrenched in government” while “nepotism has become the norm on Tinubu’s watch”. He also demanded “vigorous, positive actions” from the administration to bring succour to Nigerians. ‘HAVE I REALLY CROSSED THE LINE?’ Reacting to Morka’s comments on his X page on Monday, Obi asked Nigerians if he has “crossed the line” after receiving threats against his life, family, and associates following his New Year’s message. The LP chieftain added that he would continue to speak “truthfully,” noting that Nigeria is drifting towards authoritarianism and undemocratic practices, which, according to him, must be addressed. “Have I really crossed the line?” Obi asked. “I ask the question because my New Year message has now led to threats against my life, my family, and those around me. “While I have received all sorts of messages, one Mr. Felix Morka has gone further to accuse me of “crossing the line” and has warned that I will face the consequences. “I find it necessary to share this message again and urge everyone who has not seen it to watch. If I have truly crossed the line, I invite anyone to point it out, as I remain committed to upholding decorum. “However, I will not be silenced in my resolve to speak truthfully, especially as our nation continues to drift toward undemocratic practices. “We are increasingly transforming into an authoritarian and repressive regime, where freedom of expression is being systematically suppressed.
