President Tinubu’s health once again became a major talking point in 2024 when he tripped and fell while trying to climb the truck on his way to give his speech at Eagles Square in Abuja on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, to mark Democracy Day. A viral video showed the President losing his footing while stepping into the truck. Many Nigerians expressed concern about the president’s ability to function in a highly demanding job his role requires of him as the president. But the presidency quickly dismissed this as a minor issue. But president’s misstep dominated the public discourse for days on end fuelling speculations about his health condition. The hunger and protest against bad governance that spread across the country in 2024 turned bloody in Niger state as six people lost their lives and several others injured. The victims were shot by bullets fired by security operatives attempting to disperse a group of protesters who had barricaded a section of the Abuja-Kaduna highway. According to eyewitnesses, the protesters, mostly youths, outnumbered the initial team of policemen at the scene, prompting a reinforcement team to be deployed.   2. One of the biggest political stories of 2024 was the arrest of the National Chairman of the Labour Party, Mr. Julius Abure by Security Operatives. Abure had been under fire following accusations of embezzling over N3 Billion Party funds. His spat with the Presidential candidate of the party Peter is also well-known.   1. The new COAS is not Mjor General Abdulsalami,but Olufemi Oloyede who was first appointed in Acting capacity before his confirmation after the death of Lagbaja.
