BUHARI WAS USED, DUMPED, MADE STRANGER IN HIS GOVT – EX-MINISTER DALUNG

A former Minister of Youth and Sports, Solomon Dalung has said that former President Muhammadu Buhari was used and dumped by the political elite.

Dalung said this as a guest on the Mic On podcast hosted by Seun Okinbaloye, a short clip of which was shared on social media.

The Plateau State-born Dalung served as minister under Buhari from November 2015 to May 2019.

The ex-minister said the political elite took advantage of Buhari’s charisma to wrest power from Dr Goodluck Jonathan in 2015.

“Buhari was also used and dumped,” Dalung said in response to a question on whether the ex-president performed creditably.

He added, “Buhari’s charisma was needed at that point in time by the political elite to eliminate Goodluck Jonathan.

“And shortly after Buhari had taken over power, these sets of political elite emerged and hijacked the government.

“Buhari was a stranger in his own government and I can say this at any point in time. I can collaborate this because I went to see the president when I was in office.

“I told him ‘Mr President, this wasn’t what we told Nigerians. I have conscience. We campaigned and convinced Nigerians and when I look at the type of investment that the common people put in our government and here we are today with insecurity. When we came in, it was only the Northeast.’

“As at 2020, I told him it was not possible to even travel between Abuja and Kaduna.”
