BOBRISKY WAS GUARDED LIKE PRESIDENT IN KIRIKIRI PRISON, SPENT ONLY THREE WEEKS OUT OF SIX MONTHS JAIL SENTENCE

Nigerian crossdresser Okuneye Idris Olanrewaju, popularly known as Bobrisky, has found himself at the centre of a burgeoning scandal following revelations about his time in Kirikiri Prison.

Despite being sentenced to six months for naira abuse in April, it was gathered that Bobrisky spent only three weeks incarceration before allegedly negotiating his early release.

However, the controversy started on Tuesday when social media influencer Martins Vincent Otse, known as VeryDarkMan, shared a recorded phone conversation in which Bobrisky confessed to serving her prison term outside the facility.

According to his claims, he reportedly paid about N15 million to have the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) drop ‘money laundering’ charges against her.

FIJ exclusively reports that sources familiar with the situation revealed that Bobrisky was taken to Kirikiri Custodial Centre following her sentencing in April but was released after just three weeks. However, he was officially freed from prison in August.

A prison official told FIJ that “Bob spent only three weeks here with us in Kirikiri before she was transferred to another undisclosed location.”

“This was where she spent her time; it was all arranged, and money was involved,” the source added.

The official revealed that Bobrisky was “guarded like a president” until the socialite’s “secret departure after three weeks.”

“She received VIP treatment throughout her stay,” the source continued. “She lived in a special cell. The money she claimed to have paid is true; there are no lies about that. Yes, she did pay.”

While prison authorities restricted Bobrisky’s interactions with other inmates, this limited the visibility of his eventual disappearance.
“There was one instance when a guy was on a video call with his girlfriend and unexpectedly turned the camera to Bobrisky,” the official recounted. “This was considered an invasion of her privacy, and as a consequence, he was confined to his cell for nearly two months.”

“As I mentioned, she was heavily guarded, which minimized such incidents. She was quietly taken away after three weeks,” the source said.

On Wednesday, SaharaReporter reported that a renowned lawyer and human rights activist Femi Falana (SAN) had given VeryDarkMan 24 hours to “retract his offensive and derogatory publication” against him or face legal action.

In a letter from Falana’s legal counsel, Taiwo E. Olawanle, on Wednesday, the activist was given 24 hours to retract his statements and issue a public apology.

The controversy stems from VeryDarkMan’s claims that Falana demanded N10,000,000 (Ten Million Naira) from Bobrisky in exchange for removing his name from the records of the EFCC.

Olawanle characterized VeryDarkMan’s statements as “a vicious, wicked, and reckless ploy” designed to tarnish Falana’s reputation among the public.

Olawanle stated emphatically that “without any fear of contradiction,” Falana has never spoken to Bobrisky regarding any alleged pardon or any other matter.

He emphasized that while freedom of expression is a constitutional right, it must be exercised responsibly, and individuals should not damage another person’s reputation through unfounded allegations.

Olawanle said, “We, therefore, demand immediate retraction of the offensive and derogatory publication as well as an apology prominently published in all the platforms to which you have disseminated it without any justification whatsoever.

“Be advised that if we do not receive your formal retraction and apology as demanded within 24 (twenty-four) hours of the receipt hereof, we shall proceed with our client’s instructions to seek appropriate legal remedies, including monetary damages, against you for your incendiary publication and dissemination of defamatory statements.”

“We hope that the salient issue raised herein will urgently be addressed by you in your own interest,” he said.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday, VeryDarkman accused Bobrisky of failing to repay a debt of N4 million.

To support his claims, he leaked a video recording that purportedly reveals how the cross-dresser navigated his six-month jail term in April. According to VeryDarkman, Bobrisky allegedly bribed EFCC officers with N15 million to drop money laundering charges against him.

In the same video, VeryDarkman alleged that Bobrisky paid N10 million to Falz (Folarin Falana) and his father to intercede on his behalf and plead for a pardon.

Following these allegations, the EFCC has launched an investigation into claims that some of its officers accepted N15 million from Bobrisky.

WE’VE ACHIEVED 80% SUCCESS AGAINST KIDNAPPING – RIBADU

WE’VE ACHIEVED 80% SUCCESS AGAINST KIDNAPPING – RIBADU The National Security Adviser (NSA), Malam Nuhu Ribadu, has said the security agencies recorded 80 per cent success against kidnapping in two years. Ribadu stated this at the official inauguration of the Multi-Agency Kidnap Fusion Cell (MAAKFC) on Thursday in Abuja. “Within a short period of time, I can say less than two years, we are getting 80 per cent successes, but we do not talk about it,” he said. This is despite a report by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) that Nigerians paid a ransom of over N2.2 trillion in the year 2024. According to the report, 2.2 million Nigerians were kidnapped, while 614,937 were killed in the same year. However, Ribadu admitted that kidnapping was the most worrisome threat in Nigeria and globally. He said the commissioning of the Multi-Agency Anti-Kidnap Fusion Cell (MAAKFC) was a significant step forward in the nation’s collective fight against one of the gravest security challenges we face: ‘kidnapping’. “As we all know, kidnapping remains one of the most pressing security threats in Nigeria today. It has caused untold hardship for countless families, disrupted economic activities, and posed a severe threat to our national stability. This menace demands a robust, multi-agency approach, which the Multi-Agency Anti-Kidnap Fusion Cell embodies.” He charged members of the cell to leverage their knowledge and expertise to ensure Nigerians are protected and feel safe. “The training and resources you received have prepared you for this critical task, and I expect nothing but professionalism, dedication, and innovation in your work. Embrace synergy, leverage the knowledge you have acquired, and ensure that this Cell fulfils its mission to protect our people and communities,” he added. The National Coordinator, National Counter Terrorism Center Office of the National Adviser (NCTC-ONSA), Major General Adamu Laka, said the establishment of the Multi-Agency Fusion Cell was a result of the Security Defence Partnership (SDP) Dialogue signed between the National Security Advisers of Nigeria and the United Kingdom in 2022 in a bid to stem the rising spate of kidnapping in the country. Laka said that between 2022 and 2024, the United Kingdom, through the National Crime Agency (NCA), partnered with the Office of the National Security Adviser to provide capacity-building exercises as well as support to the National Counter-Terrorism Center in a bid to set up a kidnap fusion centre. He added that the output of this partnership led to a multi-agency approach, with over 15 law enforcement agencies and stakeholders working together to fight kidnapping in Nigeria. General Laka further said that the United Kingdom and Nigeria enjoyed a deep and long-standing security and defence relationship, underpinned by shared history, mutual trust, and shared Commonwealth principles of democratic governance and respect for international humanitarian and human rights law. This is in addition to a shared desire to support regional and international peace and security, hence the inaugural UK-Nigeria SDP Dialogue signed by the two National Security Advisors of the two countries between January 31 and February 2, 2022. The National Coordinator commended all the law enforcement agencies for working together to build capacity for the fusion cell, as well as the efforts in putting together Terms of Reference and Standard Operating Procedures to guide the activities of the cell. He, however, emphasised that the fusion cell is a 24/7 coordination centre and not an operational outfit that could duplicate efforts. While giving a background on the Security Defence Partnership, NCA Operations Manager, Chris Grimson, thanked the Nigerian government for the partnership and stressed the importance of having solutions tailored to the needs of Nigeria and implemented by Nigerians. The fusion cell is housed in the National Counter-Terrorism Centre, Office of the National Security Adviser, and is supported by…
