CHOOSE LESSER EVIL BETWEEN TRUMP AND HARRIS – POPE FRANCIS TELLS US VOTERS

The Catholic pontiff, Pope Francis has told Catholics in the United States to choose ‘lesser evil’ between Trump, Kamala Harris

Pope Francis condemned both Kamala Harris and Donald Trump for their positions on some key topics, and labelled them “against life.”

Pope Francis, while condemning Trump position said, migration is a right described in Scripture and that anyone who does not follow the Biblical call to welcome the stranger is committing a “grave sin.”

The Pope also criticises Kamala Harris on abortion, and urges Catholics to pick ‘lesser evil’ in elections, emphasising migration as a Biblical right, and abortion as killing

He slammed both US presidential candidates for what he called anti-life policies on abortion and migration, and he advised American Catholics to choose who they think is the “lesser evil” in the upcoming US elections.

“Both are against life, be it the one who kicks out migrants, or be it the one who kills babies,” Francis said.

The Argentine Jesuit was asked to provide counsel to American Catholic voters during an airborne news conference while he flew back to Rome from his four-nation tour through Asia.

Francis stressed that he is not an American and would not be voting.

VIDEO FOOTAGE SHOWS ARREST OF MAN WHO TRIED TO ASSASSINATE TRUMP Body cam footage of Ryan Wesley Routh’s arrest has surfaced following his alleged attempt on former President Donald Trump’s life. The video, released by Martin County Sheriff’s deputies, shows the dramatic moments after Routh was pulled over on a Florida highway on Sunday. In the footage, deputies are seen shouting orders at Routh, who is shown walking backwards with his shirt raised above his head to demonstrate that he had no concealed weapons. Routh, allegedly involved in an assassination attempt on Trump while he was playing golf in West Palm Beach, surrendered calmly and was handcuffed by several deputies holding rifles. The arrest confirms earlier remarks made by Martin County Sheriff William Snyder, who described Routh’s behaviour as “perplexing” during the stop. In an interview with CNN, Sheriff Snyder noted, “His facial affect was so flat. His demeanour was relaxed. I honestly thought it looked like somebody that just left the church picnic and was on his way home.” Routh became the prime suspect after Secret Service agents noticed an AK-style rifle in shrubbery about 400 yards from Trump’s golf course. An agent fired into the area after spotting the weapon, prompting Routh to abandon the rifle and flee in a nearby SUV. He allegedly left behind two backpacks, a scope, and a GoPro camera at the scene. Following an alert from the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Department, the Martin County Sheriff’s office dedicated all available resources to locating Routh. He was eventually apprehended and will remain in custody until his arraignment on September 30. Routh faces charges of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number, with additional charges expected.

I’LL END UKRAINIAN WAR IN 24 HOURS – TRUMP, ZENLENSKY EXPRESSES DOUBT

I’LL END UKRAINIAN WAR IN 24 HOURS – TRUMP, ZENLENSKY EXPRESSES DOUBT Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has expressed skepticism about US Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump’s vow to swiftly end the conflict with Russia, characterizing it as typical campaign rhetoric unlikely to be fulfilled. Trump has consistently asserted that, if re-elected, he would broker a peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine “within 24 hours.” “Just get it done. All right. Negotiate a deal,” he said during last week’s presidential debate with his Democratic rival, Vice President Kamala Harris. Harris retorted that Trump was planning to “just give up” on Ukraine, and went on to list her own efforts to secure military support for Kiev. However, Zelensky remains unconvinced, suggesting that such promises are mere electioneering and not grounded in reality. In an interview with CNN’s “Fareed Zakaria GPS” on Sunday, Zelensky played down Trump’s words. “My position is that election period and election messages are election messages. Sometimes they are not very real,” he said, adding that while Trump’s remarks “can make us, all our people nervous,” a conversation with the former president two months ago left a very different impression. “I had a phone call with Donald Trump, and he said that he’s very supportive and we had a good conversation,” he told the host as cited by Politico. In April 2022, Kiev and Moscow were close to finalizing a peace agreement in Istanbul, but the talks were broken off due to an intervention by Ukraine’s Western backers. Since then, Kiev has repeatedly stated that any talks should be based on Zelensky’s ten-point peace plan, which states that Russia must relinquish territories held by Ukraine prior to 2014. Moscow has rejected the idea as detached from reality. Last week, Republican vice presidential candidate J.D. Vance suggested that Trump’s potential peace proposal would probably involve creating a demilitarized zone around the current line of contact and guaranteeing Ukraine’s neutrality, ideas that align with Russia’s main objectives. US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan, however, cast doubt on achieving a quick resolution to the conflict, saying that “anyone, who steps forward and says they could solve the Ukraine war in one day from the outside” needs to be questioned as to “whose side are they going to be solving it on.” Moscow has ruled out negotiations while Ukrainian forces remain in Russia’s Kursk Region, citing war crimes committed during the incursion in early August. Previously, Russian President Vladimir Putin said he would order an immediate ceasefire if Ukraine were to abandon its NATO ambitions and territorial claims.
