WE’LL CONTINUE PROTEST UNTIL TINUBU ADDRESSES OUR DEMANDS – ORGANISERS
The nationwide rallies that started on Friday will continue until President Bola Tinubu addresses their demands, according to organizers of the #EndBadGovernance protests.
Damilare Adenola, Director of Mobilisation of Take It Back Movement, a non-governmental organisation, stated this on Channels Television’s The August Protests programme on Friday.
He predicted that the government’s response could last for longer than 10 days.
Adenola claimed that Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa, a human rights lawyer, does not represent his organization despite the Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) writing to security agencies to request their protection before the rallies.
Fifth columnists have smuggled into the rallies, but the youth activist added that his organization won’t stop the 10-day protests despite Adegboruwa’s demands that they be called off.
Adenola said, “Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa is not our lawyer and he doesn’t speak for us. He might have appeared to be the solicitor, but he lacks food. He is a well-educated senior advocate for Nigeria. He doesn’t have to eat as much as the streetcar drivers do.
“We are awaiting a response from the government to fulfill our requests.” And until then, the protests continue”, he said, adding that though the demands of protesters have not been addressed, a statement has been made to the government of the day.
He claimed that Nigerians have demonstrated how to hold their leaders accountable as a result of the protests. He claimed that hunger and economic deprivation were the protests’ sponsors.
