DANIEL BWALA: A FAILED LAWYER, MAD DOG – NDUME TELLS TINUBU TO BE CAREFUL

Mohammed Ali Ndume, senator representing Borno South, has alleged that Daniel Bwala, former aide of Atiku Abubakar, Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 elections, can only be a political liability to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

After Tinubu’s victory in last year’s election, Bwala had dumped the camp of Atiku, warming his way to the APC which he claimed to have dumped over the Muslim-Muslim ticket.

Before announcing his formal defection, Bwala had tackled Ndume over his criticism of the president.

Subsequently, Bwala posted that Ndume was planning to mobilise Youths to attack him in his local government, Hawul, which is part of the Senator Ndume’s constituency.

Reacting to the allegation at his Maiduguri residence in Borno state, Ndume said it is unfortunate that Bwala who claimed to be an indigene of Hawul cannot trace his actual roots, not to talk of the people in Hawul.

“The only advice I can give President Tinubu is that, politically Daniel Bwala is just a Mad Dog who barks and bites even the owner, and so, Tinubu should be careful with the likes of Bwala.

“Bwala was once a member of the APC, but later ran away shamelessly and joined the former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, where he started using all sorts of abusive and insulting words against Tinubu on Live television. Bwala can only be useful in attacking people, but 2027 general elections is coming, all I can advise is for Bwala to come to Borno and trace his roots.

“Ordinarily, I did not want to join issues with him. I wouldn’t have replied Mr. Bwala because I believe Bwala’s strategy is how to get the attention and sympathy of Mr. President to give him Police cover and may be a job.

“I can describe Daniel Bwala as a failed Lawyer and empty drum making noise in Abuja. As I said, I did not want to respond, but because Bwala talked about threats or I am mobilizing Youths to attack him, which has security implications, is very sensitive.

“We have credible people in Hawul local government area, and they know who Daniel Bwala is, in fact when I saw that his message on X handle, I thought it was Inuwa Bwala who was the former Caretaker Chairman of Hawul and a renowned journalist. I quickly drew his attention to it, which he said, he was not the one.

“Later, I was made to understand that it is Daniel Bwala who has no political relevance as far as Southern Borno is concerned.

“Infact, I replied his post and said, if accusing and abusing me on Twitter or pages of Newspapers would fetch him something from Tinubu to survive after being a failed lawyer in Abuja, I will be happy for him.

“We have three former Deputy Governors from Hawul, and all of them are my ardent supporters and people I took in high esteem throughout my political surgeon. Bwala want to portray the peace loving youths as violent people. You can’t instigate Hawul people to go into political violence, because is not in their character. All I can say is that Bwala is trying to get sympathy from Mr. President” he said. The senator also emphasized that the interview he granted on Arise TV did not accuse or insult President Tinubu, but only criticized some policies, which are counter productive to average Nigerians.

LP CRISIS: INEC RECOGNISES ABURE FACTION AFTER COURT JUDGEMENT The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has finally obeyed the court order compelling it to recognize the Julius Abure leadership of the Labour Party. In a letter addressed to Abure and Alhaji Umar Farouk Ibrahim, the Secretary of the Commission, Rose Oriaran-Anthony, invited the Labour Party to the fourth consultative meeting with the political parties. A Federal High Court in Abuja had earlier declared that the 2024 Labour Party national convention held in Nnewi in March was valid, constitutional and in line with all laid down laws in Nigeria. In a judgement made by Justice Emeka Nwite, the court went further to compel INEC to grant due recognition and all privileges to the Labour Party’s National Working Committee as led by Barrister Julius Abure. Speaking to journalists after the meeting with INEC on Thursday, the National Secretary of the LP, Umar Farouk Ibrahim said that though the party was unjustly excluded from previous engagements, he was satisfied that INEC has obeyed the court order and that the party has now resumed seat amongst the other 18 political parties. He also said that with this development, the party is set for the rest of the political activities including the Anambra governorship election as announced by the INEC chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu. He said, “With the issue of leadership now completely resolved, I urge every member of the party to rally round the Abure leadership. What transpired is only a family affair and we will as a family work towards restoring confidence to the party and every aggrieved or misled member of the party. “The Labour Party will come back stronger but we need everyone to join in the process of rebuilding the paper. It is a no victor nor vanquish situation. We are all winners. The party is however supreme and every member must work towards achieving set targets of the party.”

PDP IN CRISIS BECAUSE SUPREME COURT ALLOWED WARD CHAIRMAN TO SUSPEND NATIONAL CHAIRMAN – JONATHAN

PDP IN CRISIS BECAUSE SUPREME COURT ALLOWED WARD CHAIRMAN TO SUSPEND NATIONAL CHAIRMAN – JONATHAN Former President of Nigeria, Goodluck Jonathan, has cautioned the judiciary against making pronouncements that can be detrimental to the nation’s democracy.Jonathan, who spoke on Thursday in Abuja at the 67th birthday celebration of Prof. Mike Ozekhome (SAN), said he is disturbed by the judgements emanating from various courts on political matters in the country recently. The former Nigerian leader specifically lamented the decision of the Supreme Court that a ward chairman of a political party could suspend the National Chairman of the party. According to him, the apex court ruling is responsible for the current crisis in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and had also caused problems for the All Progressives Congress (APC) previously. Jonathan argued that such court pronouncements could be likened to turning a cone upside down, which increases its propensity to fall. “When a cone is turned upside down, it cannot stand because any little thing that touches it will fall,” Jonathan submitted, noting that such judgements were capable of destabilising the democratic dispensation in the country. According to him, empowering Ward Chairmen of political parties to suspend their National Chairmen is against the natural course of justice as it is empowering a subordinate to remove his/her superior from office. “You cannot tell me that the head of a department can expel the vice chancellor. “Since that judgement was given, it has created all forms of instability. The PDP is in crisis today because of that judgement. The APC also faced the same problem at a time. “Look at how other nations work; I have never seen where the sub-unit disciplines the principal. “I am therefore pleading with the Supreme Court to review that judgement because it had turned the cone upside down,” ex-President Jonathan added. He made the observations shortly after he was brought to the podium by former President Olusegun Obasanjo, who was originally named the Chairman of the occasion, but however, while proceeding to the podium to make his remarks, took Jonathan along with him, and announced him as the co-chairman of the event.
