NPFL: RANGERS STILL LEAD DESPITE GOALESS DRAW WITH HOSTS, SPORTING LAGOS

It promises to be a tight race to the championship after both Enyimba and Remo Stars won to now come within just two points of leaders Enugu Rangers with four rounds of matches till the end of the season.

Enyimba trounced Rivers United 4-1 thanks to brace each by Chijoke Mbaoma and Elijah Akanni, while Remo Stars were 2-1 winners over Kano Pillars.

Both teams now have 59 points after 34 matches.

Rangers, on the other hand, were pegged back by hosts Sporting Lagos courtesy of a goalless draw.

However, ‘The Flying Antelopes’ have 61 points.

The home draw sucked Sporting Lagos into the relegation zone.

Sunshine Stars 2-0 win at bottom club Gombe United lifted them out of the relegation zone as they now have 43 points provisionally as well as relegated Gombe to the second-tier NNL.

Gombe have recorded 25 points from 34 matches after they lost 18 of their matches.There were also home wins for Bendel Insurance (2-0 vs Katsina United) and Doma United (1-0 vs Lobi Stars) on Saturday.
