IPOB BANS INDEPENDENCE ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION ACTIVITIES IN SOUTH EAST ON OCTOBER 1 The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has banned any form of Independence Day celebration activities in the entire South-East region of Nigeria on Tuesday, October 1, 2024. In a statement issued on Monday by its Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, IPOB asked people of the South-East at home and in the diaspora to avoid any Nigeria’s Independence celebration globally. Powerful said “IPOB calls on Biafrans (Southeasterners) globally to go about their normal business because we are not part of Nigeria and have nothing to do with their British flag independence of 1960. “We are aware that some prominent Igbo men and women played pivotal roles in securing the flag of independence that Nigeria celebrates annually on every October 1st, however, such independence has taken more blood of Ndigbo to maintain than any other ethnic group in Nigeria. “Biafrans have decided to reject the bloody flag of independence of Nigeria and work for the restoration of a true united and prosperous Independent State of Biafra. “Therefore, every Biafran should reject this Nigerian forced unity as we look forward to celebrating the Biafra independence soon. “Ndigbo must adhere to this clarion call to stop every activity concerning Nigeria’s independence tomorrow. There shall be no flying of Nigerian flags in Biafra territory. There shall be no independence activity for students in Biafraland. “Everyone should go about their businesses or use that Day for family quality time and rest at home for those who may choose not to go for their work and business.” He warned, “IPOB is not joking with the restoration of Biafra freedom and sovereignty. BREAKING: NNAMDI KANU: JUSTICE NYAKO RECUSES SELF FROM CASE Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court in Abuja has recused herself from the trial of the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu in the terrorism charges brought against him by the federal government. The Judge on Tuesday opted out of the trial following the outburst of Kanu that he had no confidence and trust in the judge. In the middle of Tuesday’s proceedings, Kanu had jumped up from the dock and ordered his lawyer, Aloy Ejimako to sit down for him to address the court. In the uproar that ensued, Kanu took over the proceedings, announced that he no longer had confidence in Justice Binta Nyako and demanded that she rescued himself immediately. Although the federal government lawyer, Adegboyega Awomolo, SAN, objected to Kanu’s request, the Judge insisted on recusing herself. Awomolo had argued that the order to open the trial was in line with a Supreme Court Judgment, Justice Binta Nyako said she would prefer another judge to handle the trial. The judge subsequently recused herself and ordered that the case file be returned to the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, John Tsoho for reassignment to another judge. Meanwhile, Kanu has been returned to the DSS custody.

Maxwell Opara, one of the Kanu’s lawyers disclosed this in a video recording posted on X (formerly Twitter) on Monday. The condition I saw him is not something to write home about. “The cardiologist who has been treating Nnamdi Kanu has told the DSS that he cannot be coming to DSS every time, every week to be treating Nnamdi Kanu, that it is against their medical ethics. He is a US trained Cardiovascular Consultant and he said that he needs to have Nnamdi Kanu in his clinic; at least to monitor him for two weeks. But the DSS said no that except it is through court order. “I can’t see the reason while the judiciary should be allowed themselves to be used by the executive. We have seen the best international practices that once somebody is sick even in the prison and if it is discovered that the person needed to have best medical practitioner, they will release the person. But the one of Nnamdi Kanu the case is quite different. “Is it because he is an Igbo? Is it because he is Nnamdi Kanu? It is only a living that can face trial. Look at a letter written to the DSS. This letter was written by Heartland Cardiovascular Consultants Limited, signed by Onye Godfrey Achilihu, the medical director, and he is a fellow American College of Cardiology. “And in the letter he said, “Based on symptoms communicated to me, I strongly recommend that he be brought to my clinic so that a proper and focused examination, including all necessary tests will be carried out to address his complaints.” “Now after the letter was rejected, the man said he will not be going to DSS. Dear Nigerians; is that the way to treat somebody? The judiciary is no longer the judiciary we know because here is somebody you refused to release him, you refused to reinstate his bail, Supreme Court said he never jumped bail, you refused to send him to prison where we have professionals. You detained him in DSS custody and they don’t have adequate medical facility to address his case. I must continue to talk whether they like it or not.” Meanwhile, the letter signed by Onye Godfrey Achilihu, Interventional Cardiologist, which was addressed to the Director General, Department of State Services, Abuja, is dated 16/07/2024. It partly read: “Re: Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. “I am a United States Fellowship trained Interventional cardiologist, practicing in Abuja. DEFENCE HEADQUARTERS REVEALS FRESH MOVES TO EXTRADITE SIMON EKPA The Federal Government has said it will take action against Simon Ekpa, the leader of the Biafra Government in Exile (BRGIE), who recently announced plans to declare the Biafra Republic on December 2, 2024. Major General Edward Buba, Director of Defence Media Operations, revealed that the government would respond appropriately through diplomatic channels, including the European Union, to extradite Ekpa from Finland. “The FG would respond appropriately to the Finnish Government through the EU. On the part of the military, troops would sustain operations against IPOB/ESN,” General Buba stated. Ekpa, who claims to be the Prime Minister of BRGIE, announced on his social media handle that the Biafra Government would unveil the map of the “40 United States of Biafra” and issue a declaration on December 2, 2024. The move, according to Ekpa, aims to hasten the realization of Biafra’s independence. However, the Federal Government has reiterated its commitment to sustaining military operations against the Indigenous People of Biafra and Eastern Security Network (IPOB/ESN).

27 KIDNAPPERS, EKPA’S GUNMEN KILLED IN ENUGU No fewer than 27 kidnappers, including members of the Auto Pilot, also known as Unknown Gunmen, a notorious breakaway faction of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) loyal to the Finland based fugitive, Simon Ekpa, which terrorized Enugu and its environs had been gunned down in shoot-outs with security operatives at various locations across the state in the past two weeks, a police detective has disclosed.This was as residents of the state appealed to the governor to invoke the provisions of the state’s criminal code and demolish all the properties used by kidnappers and other criminal elements as stash houses, saying it would serve as deterrent to criminals.Speaking at Ugwuogo Nike-Opi Road in the early hours of Wednesday, a Police Superintendent, SP Onochie Ezeh, who led a joint security operation to rescue some kidnap victims, said the operation led to the killing of seven-man-gang kidnappers at Ogbeke Nike where the kidnappers used a large poultry farm to hide their hostages.He explained that Wednesday’s successful operation was part of the sustained operations in the state to flush out criminals operating from other neighboring states, including kidnappers, unknown gunmen and other unscrupulous elements.“We were on the trail of these kidnappers for more than three months now. They had been operating within this axis where they kidnapped their victims and kept them at a large poultry farm at Ogbeke Nike until ransoms are paid. So, on a tipoff from members of the public who suspected the strange movements in the area and the accounts of some of the victims of these criminals, we swung into action. On sighting us, these men of the underworld opened fire on my men, and we quickly retaliated and overpowered them with our superior firepower,” he stressed.Ezeh further disclosed that the combined security task force, set up by the Enugu State governor, Peter Mbah, as a tactical squad against kidnappings and activities of unknown gunmen, had recorded milestones in policing the state and flushing out criminal elements.“This is a gallant crack squad with the mandate to eliminate every form of threat in the state. We have recorded huge successes over the past months. You know our role is not to rush to the media to tell our story but to ensure that every citizen and resident of the state has peace.“I can tell you that we have already neutralized over seven criminal gangs who were mostly kidnappers and unknown gunmen. We are going after them. We are taking the battle to their doorsteps because the governor said we should not come back home if we don’t completely rid the state of threats.“So we are on it. In fact, during our operations, we identified many criminal hideouts that serve as rogue premises where kidnap victims and dangerous weapons are kept. These places include New Artisan Market, Akwuke community, Akegbe-Ugwu, Four Corners, Awgu, Mgbowo, Emene, Eke and Afa in Udi and some parts of Isi Uzo local government. SOLDIERS SACK CHURCH WORSHIPPERS IN ANAMBRA COMMUNITY Panic and fear gripped Christian worshippers in Umunze, Orumba North Local Government Area, Anambra State on Sunday, when armed soldiers stormed different churches in the morning hours and dispersed the congregation in their places of worship. The soldiers took over the community with a stern warning that no church service, movement or market would be allowed in the area till further notice. A witness, Obika Ezeka, said they were traumatised when they heard gunshots at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church as worshippers arrived for the 6am Mass. She said they were waiting for the priest to begin the Mass when one of the armed soldiers marched to the altar and asked everybody to leave the church. According to her, the soldier, whose identity could not be ascertained, told the congregation that their colleagues were murdered on Thursday night by gunmen in the town, and there would be no movement or market till further notice. Similarly, several armed soldiers invaded Holy Rosary Catholic Church, and SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church, disrupted the service and ordered parishioners, including priests, to leave. Another witness, who identified himself as Ejike, said the soldiers came to St. Peter’s Anglican Church, Lomu Umunze, when a teacher was moderating the Bible Study, asked him to drop the microphone and ordered everybody out of the church. An unconfirmed report said some of the soldiers brazenly descended on male worshippers with canes and belts for resisting their unlawful invasion of the places of worship. It was reported that some people, including commercial cyclists and drivers found on the road on Sunday were arrested and forced to pull down a building that served as office for tipper drivers. The community quickly turned to a ghost town, as traders hurriedly locked their shops at the busy Nkwo Market. A stranded mother, Nze Euphemia, lamented that the sudden shutdown of the market left many people starving, with no food at home. She said the soldiers would have announced a curfew so that people could buy essential food items and drugs before the sudden lockdown. A native of Umunze said the town has been under siege by criminals that operate from neighbouring states. According to him, more than 15 people have been kidnapped in Umunze in recent time, and huge sums of money paid as ransom before they were released. The hoodlums recently attacked a public phone-charging centre in the town and carted away all the phones. He pleaded with the government to set up military checkpoints on Umuchu and Ogbunka roads, which have become the escape route for the kidnappers and gunmen terrorising the town. The military checkpoints at Nawfia and Ihitte, according to him, cannot safeguard the long stretch of road from Umuchu to Ogbunka, thereby allowing kidnappers and notorious gunmen to terrorise Umunze town and escape to neighbouring states. A viral video had emerged some weeks ago, which revealed that criminals were creeping into Umunze and Ogbunka towns with their weapons to terrorise the area. Despite the warnings, no visible security measures were taken to safeguard the volatile areas. Further investigation revealed that a fierce gun battle broke out between soldiers and gunmen on Thursday night. An unconfirmed report said the gunmen were seen at about 8.30pm speeding along the Umunze-Ogbunka Road, jumping the bumps and barricades in a black jeep. People selling by the roadside quickly closed their shops, thinking they were kidnappers on the prowl. A few minutes later, soldiers arrived the area in a patrol vehicle and it was reported that a terrifying gun battle ensued hours later. Simon Ekpa, leader of the Autopilot faction of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and self-styled Prime Minister of the Biafra Republic Government In-Exile (BRGIE), has taken a significant step in seeking international support for Biafran independence by securing a lobbying deal in the United States. Ekpa signed a substantial contract worth $130,000 (approximately ₦205 million) with Moran Global Strategies (MGS), a US-based firm led by former US lawmaker James Moran. The agreement, finalized in June 2024, aims to facilitate high-level advocacy and strategic engagement with key stakeholders in Washington, D.C., including lawmakers, policymakers, and influential think tanks. This move marks a new chapter in the long-standing campaign for Biafran independence, as Ekpa seeks to leverage international platforms to highlight the grievances and aspirations of the Biafran people. The contract outlines that BRGIE will pay MGS a monthly fee of $10,000 (about ₦15.8 million) for their services, with the agreement set to run from June 15, 2024, to June 14, 2025. The deal is renewable on an annual basis, with MGS tasked with convincing the US government and private sectors to support the secession of Biafra from Nigeria. MGS is expected to provide strategic advice and facilitate interactions with relevant members of the US Executive and Legislative Branches, as well as third-party interests. The agreement includes promoting Biafra’s case as an independent state that could become a close ally of the United States and a counterbalance against Islamic terrorism in the region. Additionally, MGS will work to educate US and international stakeholders on issues concerning the Nigerian government, such as human rights abuses, religious freedom, and security concerns. The lobbying firm will also encourage the US government to engage directly with BRGIE through advocacy by the US Congress, faith-based organizations, and human rights groups.

SIMON EKPA CLAIMS RESPONSIBILITY FOR KILLING OF FOUR POLICE OFFICERS IN IMO On Monday evening, gunmen attacked and killed four police officers and a civilian along the Onitsha-Owerri Expressway in Owerri, Imo State. Simon Ekpa, a Finland-based Biafra agitator, has claimed responsibility for the attack. Ekpa, based in Finland, leads a group of Biafra agitators called Autopilot. He also founded the Biafra Defence Forces and Biafra Liberation Army, the armed militant wings of Autopilot Biafra. Ekpa stated that his group, the Biafra Defence Forces, carried out the attack. He referred to Nigerian security operatives as “terrorists” and demanded their withdrawal from the South-East.Ekpa’s declaration of a four-day sit-at-home order in the region coincided with the attack. Calls for his repatriation to Nigeria to face charges over his role in the region’s insecurity have intensified, with several groups, including the Enugu State governor, calling for his repatriation so he can face legal action. However, Finnish authorities have explained that they lack the power to repatriate him to Nigeria, as they respect his rights as a Finnish citizen.

No governor should mortgage safety and security by allocating land for RUGA in disguise. “The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) is asking the Southern and Middle Belt Governors to reject the demand for grazing reserves by the Fulani Miyetti Allah organization in Nigeria.“IPOB will resist any form of land grabbing, change of demography, and conquest ideology in any disguise. All we are saying is that there shall be no grazing reserve for Miyetti Allah in Biafra Land.”
