YOU’RE JOBLESS, FRUSTRATED – SHEHU SANI REPLIES EL-RUFAI

Activist and politician, Senator Shehu Sani, has taken a swipe at ex-Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai, calling him a “midget professor” who is jobless and frustrated after being denied a role in the Tinubu’-led administration.

Sani was responding to El-Rufai’s recent criticism of the All Progressives Congress (APC), where he accused Tinubu’s administration of attempting to destroy opposition parties.

In a post on his official X handle on Thursday, January 30, Sani slammed El-Rufai’s comments as hypocritical, accusing him of practising tyranny and unleashing oppression while in office.

“Out of power, he is sanctimoniously preaching democracy to the country he helped to wreck, plundered, and persecuted.

“He demonized the opposition when in the palace and now embraces them in the wilderness,” Sani wrote.

He also mocked El-Rufai’s claim that the country is being led by illiterates, stressing that the former Kaduna governor’s grievances are due to the Tinubu administration ignoring him.

“He is like a man who was turned down by a woman and then resorted to speaking ill of her. Tinubu was his angel until he was ‘evicted from the house’; now he tells the world Tinubu is a demon.

“The government is led by illiterates because they refused to hire professor midget,” Sani said.

Sani further described El-Rufai as a desperate figure now seeking attention by stoking sectional sentiments.

“He is now jobless, most times seeking to be invited to northern public events where he will whip up sectional sentiments,” Sani added.

El-Rufai made his comments on Monday at a national conference in Abuja focused on strengthening democracy in Nigeria. He criticized the ruling party, describing the state of governance and opposition in the country as a “national emergency.”

“You cannot afford to have illiterates, semi-illiterates, and cunning people as your leaders.

“This is why we end up with the poor leadership we have today,” El-Rufai stated at the event which had former vice president, Atiku Abubakar, in attendance.

I’M GLAD MY GOVT LAID FOUNDATION FOR 26 YEARS OF UNBROKEN DEMOCRACY – ABDULSALAMI ABUBAKAR Former Head of State, Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar (rtd), says he is excited over the contribution of his government to Nigeria’s 26 years of unbroken democracy. The then military Head of State ushered in this era of democracy when he handed over power to the elected President on 29th May 1999, signaling commencement of the 4th Republic. Speaking at the Inter Party Advisory Council (IPAC) public presentation of its book titled, ‘100 Years Of Political Parties Evolution In Nigeria (1923 – 2023)’, on Thursday in Abuja, the former military ruler urged Nigerians to continue to make democracy survive. Abdulsalami was also the Chairman of the occasion, with the theme, “100 years of Political Parties Evolution in Nigeria – The Imperative of Nigeria’s Political Stability: Issues and Solutions”. Represented by his Chief Security Officer (CSO), Gen. Abdulrashid Aliyu, the former Head of State noted that year 2025 will make it 102 years of the formation of political parties in the country, thus a milestone in the nation’s democratic process. “I commend the leadership of IPAC for its political savvy and foresight in articulating and writing this historic book on 100 Years of Political Parties Evolution in Nigeria, 1923 – 2023. “Despite military interventions, democracy has come to stay in Nigeria. There is no substitute to the government of the people, by the people and for the people, which democracy represents as sovereignty resides with the people. “This year will also make it 26 years of unbroken democracy in Nigeria, the longest period of constitutional governance since 1st October 1960, when the country got Independence from the British colonial masters. “My government laid this solid foundation for democratic governance. It also shows that when leaders are patriotic, passionate, resolute and unwavering in building strong democratic structures and institutions, democracy could flourish and yield its dividends to citizens. “We should therefore keep watering and nurturing the tree of democracy as there is no alternative to civil rule. Our democracy has been tested and shaken by reactionary forces and survived. It is a testament to citizen’s belief and resilience in representative governance. “It has become expedient to explore political parties’ development priorities so as to consolidate the nation’s democracy and ensure an environment conducive for successful elections and political stability which is in tandem with the IPAC mandate. “We have all learned a lot in this longest period of democracy in Nigeria, as we continue the ongoing Constitution and Electoral Act Amendments to correct obvious flaws in the electoral process and imbibe democratic ideals, ethics and values, the nation will yet again witness sustainable democracy and development.” He urged the nation’s political parties to consider some of the past practices in party democracy which are currently being downplayed by political players. He said, “Some of these are supremacy of the party leadership, adherence to party manifestoes; and formation of party and membership based on ideology.” Speaking earlier, the chief host and National Chairman of IPAC, Alhaji Yusuf Mamman Dantalle, said that the launch of the book that marks a century of political party activities in the country remains significant.

RENO OMOKRI, SHEHU SANI POLITICAL MERCENARIES – EL RUFAI

RENO OMOKRI, SHEHU SANI POLITICAL MERCENARIES – EL-RUFAI Mallam Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai, the immediate past governor of Kaduna state has described former presidential aide and former Senator representing Kaduna Central Senatorial District, Shehu Sani, as political mercenaries. El-Rufai made the claim on X, while responding to a post by Daniel Bwala, a presidential media aide. Bwala had chided El-Rufai for criticising the Tinubu-led government, reminding the former governor that he was one of those who campaigned for the president in 2023. El-Rufai wrote: “I was cabinet minister 22 years ago, and was clear to Asiwaju that I was not interested in any position in his future government. “The pathetic manner all of you latter-day converts to the Tinubu government make an issue of something that I never wanted in the first place is perhaps a reflection of the level of your moral flexibility. “If I had remained in the Tinubu government, I will say or do the same on the tragedy within a party I was a founder, and the government that emerged from it – first in private sessions with those concerned, and then go public if no remedial actions are taken. “Go and check my public service record from 1998. I am only responding to you because I still think you are a decent person who may need a job, and not in the class of Wendell Simlin and that Kaduna pretender that our voters retired in 2019. “These clowns are political mercenaries that receive humongous monthly stipends from the security vote to be the first to jump on X and other platforms to defend everything the Asiwaju government does or fails to do, no matter how indefensible it may be. “Enjoy your special adviser position, my brother, but remember that allegiance to God and country comes first in human scale of accountability, before any person or authority.” Recall that an American woman had accused Omokri of impersonation and identity theft. Omokri had used the now infamous moniker, Wendell Simlin, in his attempt to link the former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Lamido Sanusi, to the terrorist group Boko Haram. Since then, political opponents like El-Rufai have been using the name when referring to Omokri.
