A GENERAL OVERSEER WHOSE WIFE, TWO DAUGHTERS ARE IN RIVERS GOVT — WIKE MOCKS ODILI, ACCUSES HIM OF NOT PLAYING FATHERLY ROLE

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, has described the former governor of Rivers State, Peter Odili, as a ‘General Overseer’ who has turned the state into his personal estate.

Wike said Odili made sure his wife and two daughters held high-level positions in the state.

The minister was reacting to Odili’s remarks that Governor Simi Fubara stopped him (Wike) from making Rivers State his private estate.

Odili, in his remarks, said Fubara summoned unusual fortitude to confront Wike’s quest of capturing the state through ferocious but unnecessary political war.

However, in a statement by his media aide, Lere Olayinka, Wike said: “Between him and myself, who has turned Rivers State to his personal estate? His wife is a Chairman of Governing Council, his daughter is a commissioner, his other daughter is a judge and he is the general overseer.

“Who has now turned Rivers State to his private estate? I am sure if care is not taken if there is a chance, he can even arrange a marriage for the governor.

“It was his nephew, his late senior brother’s son, that was recommended for commissioner. He took the slot and gave it to his own daughter.

“Someone who didn’t remember to stand for the son of his late elder brother, is that an elder statesman?”

Wike also accused Odili of failing to play a fatherly role in solving the issues in the state.

Speaking on Sunday in Port Harcourt during a thanksgiving service for the speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Martin Amaewhule, Wike claimed Odili was biased for choosing to support Fubara.

The thanksgiving service was held at the Church of the Holy Spirit Anglican Church, Port Harcourt, in honour of Amaewhule.

In attendance were top politicians from across party lines, including APC South-South National Vice Chairman Victor Giadom, Rivers PDP Chairman, Aron Chukwuemeka, amongst other dignitaries.

The speaker expresses gratitude to God for his political journey so far in his address.

In his address, the FCT minister addressed the political crisis in the state. He aimed at the former governor Peter Odili, whom he accused of taking sides with Fubara against him.

Wike further highlighted some of the things he did for Odili and wondered why the former governor was biased against him.

The minister asked, “Must you be a trader all the time? As governor for eight years, what else are you looking for?”

This is coming barely 24 hours after Odili praised Fubara for his great developmental strides in governance.
