President Bola Ahmed Tinubu returns to Abuja on today following an official visit to China and a brief stay in the United Kingdom.

The President’s special adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, made the announcement on Saturday night.

During his trip, President Tinubu visited Beijing, China, where he held high-level meetings with Chinese leaders, including President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang. The visit resulted in the signing of five Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) between Nigeria and China, aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and cooperation in various fields.

The MOUs signed include a Cooperation Plan to jointly promote the Belt and Road Initiative, cooperation in the peaceful application of nuclear energy, and strengthening cooperation on human resource development under the Global Development Initiative. Other agreements include a Memorandum of Understanding on Media Exchange and Cooperation and a Memorandum of Understanding between China Media Group and the Nigerian Television Authority.

In addition, Nigeria signed a Memorandum of Understanding with China Harbour Engineering Company (CHEC) to build the 68 km Lagos Green rail line, designed to run from the Lekki Free Zone to the Marina and connect with the Blue Line. A memorandum of understanding for the $1 billion iron ore-to-steel project planned for Kogi State was also signed.

President Tinubu also attended the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) Summit in Beijing, where he delivered a paper on global peace, stressing multilateralism and cooperation as essential ingredients for international peace. He also met with representatives of Nigerians in the Diaspora Organisation, China chapter, and discussed the reforms being implemented by his government in Nigeria.

Before departing China, President Tinubu visited two Chinese companies: Huawei and China Railway Construction Corporation (CRCC). He then travelled to London, where he met with King Charles III to discuss issues related to climate change and action.

RUSSIAN INVASION OF UKRAINE SHAMEFUL DISASTER FOR HUMANITY – POPE FRANCIS Pope Francis marked 1,000 days since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine Wednesday, calling it a “shameful disaster for humanity” at an audience attended by First Lady of Ukraine, Olena Zelenska. “Yesterday marked 1,000 days since the invasion of Ukraine. A tragic anniversary for the victims and the destruction it has caused,” the Argentine pope said at the end of his weekly general audience at the Vatican. But at the same time, (it is) a shameful disaster for all humanity,” he added in front of the thousands of faithful gathered in St. Peter’s Square, where Zelenska sat with the first ladies of Armenia, Lithuania and Serbia. He expressed his closeness to the “martyred Ukrainian people” and called for efforts “so that weapons give way to dialogue”. Francis then read a letter addressed to him by a Ukrainian student in which he describes the war and how people are suffering. Russia launched its full-scale attack on Ukraine in February 2022 and since then, the pope has frequently called for an end to the conflict.

During this transition, some customers may submit and collect their documents from different locations. You will be contacted via email if this affects you,” the statement said.
