PETER OBI, WIFE NOT ARRESTED BY DSS – AIDE

he Department of State Services (DSS) did not arrest Presidential Candidate of Labour Party in the last election, Valentine Obienyem, his media aide, has clarified.

There have been unconfirmed reports of Obi being arrested alongside Margaret, his wife.

But in a statement released on Tuesday, Obienyem categorically dismissed the reports as entirely false and baseless.

He said the rumour first surfaced on Saturday, but was promptly refuted.

Obienyem said Obi was not even in Anambra State at the time of the alleged incident.

“As of Saturday, Mr. Obi was in Rwanda attending to important engagements,” he said.

“He has since returned to Nigeria and is currently in Edo State, where he is actively involved in party and national matters.”

“There was no DSS operation at his residence, and no arrest was made,” Mr. Obienyem emphasised.

He urged the public to disregard the falsehood and remain vigilant against the spread of misinformation, assuring that any official communication regarding Mr. Obi will be released through proper channels.

“As the situation develops, Mr. Obi continues to focus on his commitment to the nation, while his team remains steadfast in providing accurate updates on his activities,” the statement read.

APC, POLITICAL VAMPIRES, TERMINALLY ILL PATIENTS, LIFESPAN EXPIRES 2027 – PDP The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has labelled the All Progressives Congress (APC), a group of “political vampires” that survives by “sucking the blood” of ordinary citizens while causing great suffering across Nigeria. The PDP argues that the APC is a coalition of those who seek to grab power and steal the country’s wealth, leaving millions of Nigerians to struggle with severe hardships. The main opposition party made the remarks in a statement from its National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Debo Ologunagba, during a press conference in Abuja on Monday. The party also condemned the recent attacks by the APC on Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, who has been outspoken about the difficulties facing Nigerians under the APC government. The PDP described these attacks as “reckless, insensitive, and an arrogant display of failure.” Ologunagba stated, “The APC’s attack on Governor Makinde confirms that they are jittery as their days are numbered. Nigerians have seen through the APC’s lies, manipulations, and suppressive policies that demonstrate incompetence in governance.” He emphasized that Governor Makinde is a credible and effective leader, pointing to his various development projects that benefit the people of Oyo State. He stated that Makinde’s leadership, along with that of other PDP governors, shows a commitment to development and democracy, which resists the APC’s attempts to turn Nigeria into a one-party state. Furthermore, Ologunagba expressed his outrage at the APC’s claim that Nigeria is “on the cusp of prosperity” while the country faces serious issues like insecurity, economic hardship, and poor infrastructure. He blamed these problems on what he termed the APC’s “anti-people policies.” He added, “It’s absurd for the APC to think it can deceive Nigerians with false claims of performance when it has failed on all fronts, undoing the progress made during the PDP’s 16 years in power.” Ologunagba also highlighted the economic decline under the APC. He said that the Naira, which was valued at N168 to the Dollar when the PDP was in power, has now dropped to almost N2,000 per Dollar. He pointed out that petrol prices have skyrocketed from N87 per litre to over N1,500, while the price of a bag of rice has increased from N8,000 to over N100,000. He noted that other essential food items, such as beans and garri, have also seen dramatic price hikes. Ologunagba, therefore, accused APC leaders of “looting the nation’s treasury to fund their lavish lifestyles” while ordinary Nigerians face unprecedented difficulties. He suggested that the personal attacks and manipulation of data by the APC reflect a sense of desperation as the 2027 elections draw near. “The APC should acknowledge its failures and prepare to exit in February 2027. The PDP, backed by Nigerians, will end the APC’s political journey, putting this contraption where it belongs—in political oblivion,” the PDP added. Recall that during the commissioning of the Late Olusoji Adagunodo, the zonal secretariat of the PDP in Ibadan on Saturday, Makinde stated that the 2027 election would be a contest between the APC and Nigerians, adding that only he could set the agenda for his political career. However, Felix Morka, the National Publicity Secretary of the APC described Makinde’s comments as “reckless” and “unbecoming” of a leader. Morka added that his party, the PDP is fading into irrelevance. Morka added, “Makinde cannot even represent the future electoral choices of the people of Oyo, let alone speak for Nigerians. Makinde and his partisan allies are simply alarmed that the transformative potential of Tinubu’s economic policies could consign their 2027 ambitions and calculations to the dustbin of political irrelevance.”

TINUBU’S WIFE DENIES ORGANIZING SEVEN-DAY NATIONAL PRAYER OVER HARDSHIP

TINUBU’S WIFE DENIES ORGANIZING SEVEN-DAY NATIONAL PRAYER OVER HARDSHIP President Bola Tinubu’s wife, Oluremi, has refuted the report making rounds on media platforms that she is part of the organisers of a proposed seven-day national prayer against the prevailing hardship in the country. Oluremi Tinubu and the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, had been reported to have spearheaded a planned national prayer session aimed at addressing Nigeria’s numerous challenges. The initiative, coordinated with Christian and Muslim religious leaders, seeks divine intervention for the country’s social, economic, and security issues, under the theme “Seeking the Intervention of God in Nigeria’s Affairs.” Chief Segun Balogun Afolorunikan, Director General of the National Prayer Forum (NPF), announced the event in Abuja, emphasising the importance of unity in overcoming Nigeria’s crises. According to Afolorunikan, this interfaith gathering signifies a collective response, with hopes of fostering resilience among citizens and inspiring leaders to find lasting solutions for the nation’s stability. The prayer sessions will take place over a week, with Muslims congregating at the National Mosque, where 313 participants will recite the Qur’an, totaling 2,191 recitations dedicated to national peace. Concurrently, Christians will gather at the National Ecumenical Centre, with prayer warriors from various denominations focusing on Nigeria’s ongoing adversities. As part of the preparations, NPF leaders have engaged with the National Mosque, the Christian Association of Nigeria, and key traditional figures, including the Sultan of Sokoto, to ensure broad participation and support. Organisers said they hoped the prayer sessions would inspire a renewed sense of purpose and stability as Nigeria moves towards 2025. The First Lady and the National Security Adviser, (NSA) Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, are said to be involved in the seven-day prayer. However, Busola Kukoyi, spokesperson to the First Lady, in a statement issued on Saturday denied the development, describing the report as unfounded and misleading. She said, “This is to clarify and inform the general public that the First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, is not organising a National Prayer. “The news making rounds in some conventional and social media platforms are unfounded and misleading. Consequently, anyone who might have come across the purported news of the joint National Prayer for Nigeria should disregard it as false. “Whilst the First Lady, a Christian and strong advocate of prayer and praying for Nigeria believes that prayer is an act that must be done willingly, conscientiously and correctly, she also believes that praying for Nigeria is the responsibility of every Nigerian, irrespective of religious belief, political affiliation, tribe or tongue. “Members of the public are advised to verify the authenticity of any news or event involving the First Lady or her Office through Official channels. Kindly be advised accordingly.”
