WE’VE WRITTEN TO WIKE, YOU CAN’T BE IN PDP AND INFLUENCE OTHER PARTIES TO FIGHT US – BOT

The Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) Board of Trustees (BOT) has said an invitation was extended to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, for a meeting as part of efforts to address the party’s internal crisis.

A member of the PDP BOT, Senator Abdul Ningi, said it was wrong that Wike remained a member of the PDP and at the same time was enriching and influencing other parties to fight the main opposition political party.

The Bauchi South Senator explained that the internal crisis in the party was an outcome of the last general election.

He noted that some of the party members who did not get what they wanted in the last election were out to destroy the party.

Ningi said this on Wednesday while speaking with Arise TV.

“The mindset of some key actors is that this party must not survive. This party does not warrant our sympathy because at a time in the immediate past, some people did not get what they wanted.

“They are members of the PDP, otherwise there wouldn’t have been crisis. You cannot be a member of the PDP and at the same time be a member of another party. You cannot be a member of the PDP and at the same time enriching or influencing other parties to fight the PDP,” he said.

He added that the decision to write Wike was after the BOT’s meeting with Rivers State Governor, Siminalaya Fubara.

He stated that Wike was part of Rivers State’s problem.

Ningi said he was happy that Wike said he would remain in the party and fight, adding that the BOT wants a united PDP.

“We have written a letter, the BOT has written a letter to him, to also meet him. When we were in Port Harcourt, we also tried to understand the irreducible minimum that the governor can give the party to survive in the state.

“And we have taken that. Our next venture is, of course, to see the FCT minister and have also a discussion with him,” Senator Ningi said.

CONFUSION OVER YAHAYA BELLO’S TANGO WITH EFCC The media team of former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello has reiterated that he was present at the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) headquarters, despite conflicting statements from the anti-graft agency. Earlier, Bello’s team claimed that the ex-governor honoured the EFCC’s invitation following consultations with his legal team and political associates. However, EFCC spokesperson, Dele Oyewale denied that Bello was in their custody, asserting that he remains a wanted individual. In a subsequent statement, the Director of Bello’s Media Office, Ohiare Michael, clarified that the former governor was indeed at the EFCC office, accompanied by his successor, Usman Ododo. Michael stated that the EFCC did not interrogate Bello during the visit and informed him that he was free to leave. He said, “Earlier today, we reported the voluntary visit of former Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission office to honour the Commission’s invitation. “In the statement, we reiterated the former Governor’s great respect for the rule of law and constituted authority and stressed that all the while, he only sought the enforcement of his fundamental rights in order to ensure due process. “The EFCC did not, however, interrogate him as officials told him he could leave. We don’t know what this means yet. As we write, Yahaya Bello has left the EFCC office. He was accompanied there by the Governor of Kogi State, Ahmed Usman Ododo. “Recall that the case has been before a competent court of jurisdiction, and Alhaji Yahaya Bello had been duly represented by his legal team at every hearing. The former Governor decided to honour the invitation to clear his name as he has nothing to hide and nothing to fear.”

FINALLY, EX-KOGI GOVERNOR, YAHAYA BELLO, HONOURS EFCC INVITATION

FINALLY, EX-KOGI GOVERNOR, YAHAYA BELLO, HONOURS EFCC INVITATION Former Kogi Governor Yahaya Bello on Wednesday honoured the invitation of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). The former Governor was declared wanted by the EFCC for alleged fraud and corrupt enrichment while in office. A statement by his media team said the decision was after due consultations with family, legal team and political allies. It reads: “The former Governor, who has great respect for the rule of law and constituted authority, had, all the while, only sought the enforcement of his fundamental rights in order to ensure due process. “The case has been before a competent court of jurisdiction, and Alhaji Yahaya Bello had been duly represented by his legal team at every hearing. It is important for the former Governor to now honour the invitation of the EFCC to clear his name as he has nothing to hide and nothing to fear. “The former Governor believes firmly in the efforts of the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to place Nigeria on the path of sustainable economic development; and supports the fight against corruption in the country. “It is on record that he was the first Governor of Kogi State to put in place an anti-corruption mechanism to check graft and ensure that the resources of the State work for the people of the State. “He was accompanied to the EFCC Headquarters by high profile Nigerians. “It is our hope that the Commission will be as professional as necessary and respect his fundamental rights as a citizen of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. “Details of his engagement with the operatives of the Anti-Graft Agency will be disclosed later.”
