TINUBU APPOINTS GOVERNING COUNCIL OF TERTIARY INSTITUTIONS

President Bola Tinubu appoints 255 individuals to govern councils of federal tertiary institutions, including prominent figures like Bisi Akande and Wole Olanipekun.

President Bola Tinubu has recently reconstituted the governing councils and boards for federal tertiary institutions across Nigeria, marking a significant overhaul in leadership roles.

According to a statement from Nnamdi Mbaeri, the permanent secretary in the office of the secretary to the government of the federation (SGF), a total of 255 individuals have been appointed to these critical positions.

Notable appointments include Bisi Akande, former interim national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who will chair the University of Ibadan’s governing council, and Wole Olanipekun, a senior advocate of Nigeria (SAN), appointed as chairman of the University of Lagos council.

Isa Yuguda, former governor of Bauchi, has been tasked with leading the National Open University’s governing council, while Siyan Oyeweso takes charge at the Obafemi Awolowo University.

Additionally, Adebayo Shittu will oversee the David Umahi University of Medicine in Ebonyi State, Muiz Banire at the Federal University of Transportation in Katsina state, and Florence Ita Giwa at the Federal Polytechnic in Ugep, Cross River state.These appointments are expected to influence policy decisions and educational reforms within their respective institutions, shaping the future landscape of higher education in Nigeria.
