SHEHU SANI MOCKS FORMER GOVERNOR’S APPOINTMENT AS UNIVERSITY PRO-CHANCELLOR

Shehu Sani, a former senator, has mocked the recent decision by President Tinubu to appoint Isa Yuguda, a former governor of Bauchi State, to the position of pro-chancellor of the Northern Nigeria University (NOUN).

Sani wrote on his official X account, “One of my friends has been expecting a juicy political appointment; he has now gotten it in a University Board. He is not enthusiastic. I encouraged him to cheer up; it’s an opportunity to meet the ASUU Profs and gain from their wealth of knowledge,” the former Senator wrote.

Senator Shehu Sani’s comment come after President Tinubu made the announcement of Yuguda’s appointment, which caused political circles to raise their eyebrows.

Regarding Isa Yuguda’s qualifications for the position, many people had expressed doubts due to the fact that he has a background in politics, rather than academics.

Those who were in favour of him, on the other hand, claimed that his prior expertise in governance could provide his position with useful insights. There are others who perceived the nomination as a political plan, while others saw it as an opportunity for academics and political figures to work together.
