Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State appears to be the only notable South East politician in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), still routing for the Presidential Candidature of former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar.

Atiku Abubakar was in Enugu on Tuesday to meet with the Party’s stakeholders in the South East in continuation of his consultation with stakeholders across the six geopolitical zones, but many notable politicians in the zone were conspicuously absent.

Among those absent at the meeting were Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu and PDP Senator representing Enugu East Senatorial District, Chimaroke Nnamani.

Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu, a strong ally of Rivers Governor, Nyesom Wike, is among those calling for the resignation of the PDP National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, before they could support Atiku’s Presidential bid.

Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi is also listed to be among those on the camp of Wike, but he has not been as vocal or steadfast as the other Governors to the extent that not many people can precisely say where he stands.

Chimaroke Nnamani, a former Governor of Enugu State, was recently listed as a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Presidential Campaign Council.

The party has continued to vigorously defend Nnamani’s inclusion on the list of its Campaign Council, a development that has unsettled PDP members in his home State, Enugu.

As of the time Atiku was meeting with PDP stakeholders in Enugu, Nnamani was still showing his admiration for the APC Presidential candidate, Ahmed Bola Tinubu on his social media pages.

He wrote: “HE Tinubu is my friend, brother and colleague. I have great respect for him, his political antecedents and strides in governance. And I am very proud and well pleased with him. Anybody belly aching should go himself.”

The romance of Chimaroke Nnamani with the All Progressives Congress Presidential Candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and the ambivalence of Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi in the PDP crisis, have put their protege, Peter Mbah, the PDP Governorship Candidate for Enugu State, in quandary, which had led the upcoming politician into political impersonation.

Recently traded on the social media was the campaign photograph of Peter Mbah attached to that of Labour Party Presidential Candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, as if both of them were in the same political party.
