PROTESTERS BESIEGE VENUE OF SOUTH EAST APC MEMBERS OVER EXCLUSION
Some aggrieved members of the All Progressives Congress(APC) Enugu State chapter, on Thursday staged a protest over the non invitation of the State Caretaker Committee Chairman of the party, Dr. Ben Nwoye and other chieftains of the party to the South East meeting of the APC which took place at the South East zonal office of the party in Enugu.
The aggrieved party members accused a former Senate President and a chieftain of the party in the state, Chief Ken Nnamani, of factionalising the APC in Enugu State, alleging that he superimposed the person of Mr Chikwado Chukwunta as Enugu State Caretaker Committee of the party.
Some of the placards displayed by the protesters reads, “Ben Nwoye is the only authentic state caretaker committee chairman we have”, “Ken Nnamani leave Enugu APC alone”, “Ken Nnamani 25 percent negotiator go back to PDP”, “Ken Nnamani, a PDP in the night, APC in the day”, and so on
The meeting was said to have been jointly conveyed by Nnamani and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Gefffery Onyeama.
The protesters vowed to take their complaints against Ken Nnamani to the highest authority of the party, alleging that he has done more harm to the party in Enugu state than good.
Our Correspondent gathered that aside Dr. Nwoye, other chieftains of the party in the state who were excluded in the meeting conveyed by Nnamani, includes, Director General of Voice if Nigeria, Mr. Osita Okechukwu, major financial of APC, Emperor Baywood Ibe, Enugu State Governorship flag bearer in 2015, Chief Okey Ezea, among others.
Efforts to reach Dr. Ben Nwoye for comments on the development failed as his lines weren’t reachable.
It was later gathered that he was out of town after attending the Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC) meeting of the party held on September 1, 2021 at the National Secretariat, Abuja.
