There was a rowdy session in the Senate on Wednesday as Members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) tried to fight each other over an attempt by a PDP senator, Sunny Ogbuji, from Ebonyi South to dump the party and declare for APC.
The senator had come under Order 43 of the Senate rules to announce his decision to leave PDP and join APC.
He was however barely throuh with his speech when both PDP and APC senators trooped to the floor to drag him to their sides and the house was thrown into a rowdy session.
When later the floor was brought to decorum, Senator Ogboji said that he was announcing his decision to withdraw his earlier announcement as there was the need for him to carry out a high level of consultation with his party members.
He said because of the love the PDP had shown him in the past, “I am stepping down my decision to leave the party”.
Senate President, Bukola Saraki, who presided over the session, did not object to his decision.
