DANGOTE REFINERY BEGINS DIESEL SALES TO MARKETERS, NNPC REDUCES PETROL PRICES

DANGOTE REFINERY BEGINS DIESEL SALES TO MARKETERS; NNPC REDUCES PETROL PRICES The Dangote Petroleum Refinery is set to commence sales of diesel to marketers as from today, Tuesday, April 2, 2024. The refinery has set a minimum sale volume of one million litres of Automotive Gas Oil (AGO) diesel per marketer. According to the national president of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), Alhaji Abubakar Maigandi, the move is expected to have a considerable impact on the availability and price of diesel in the country. At the same time, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has announced a reduction in petrol prices across the country. The new prices are aimed at easing the burden on consumers and making fuel more affordable for the general public. This decision by the NNPC aligns with the government’s commitment to improving the welfare of its citizens. Dangote Refinery’s decision to sell diesel to marketers is a major milestone for the company, which is Africa’s largest oil refinery. The refinery is expected to significantly boost the supply of petroleum products in Nigeria and reduce the country’s reliance on imports. The refinery’s operations are also expected to have a positive impact on the economy by creating jobs and stimulating growth in related industries. Economists and industry experts have welcomed the news, with some predicting that the price of diesel per litre will fall below N1,000 by May. This is due to the commencement of diesel production at the Dangote Refinery, which will help to stabilize prices and improve the availability of the product. The lower diesel prices are expected to have a positive impact on various sectors of the economy, including the transportation, manufacturing, and agricultural industries. The NNPC’s decision to reduce petrol prices nationwide is also a welcome development for consumers. The move is expected to ease the burden on households and businesses that rely on petrol for their daily activities. The reduction in petrol prices is part of the government’s efforts to ensure that fuel remains affordable for all Nigerians. The commencement of diesel sales by the Dangote Refinery and the reduction in petrol prices by the NNPC are significant developments for Nigeria’s energy sector. These moves are expected to have a positive impact on the economy by improving the availability of petroleum products and making them more affordable for consumers.

EFFORTS ON TO RELEASE NNAMDI KANU – REPS DEPUTY SPEAKER

EFFORTS ON TO RELEASE IPOB LRADER, NNAMDI KANU – REPS DEPUTY SPEAKER The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu, has revealed that there are ongoing efforts to secure the release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB). He said while legal processes are underway, concerted political solutions are being pursued behind the scenes to ensure the release of Kanu. Addressing the issue during a special edition of “The Ben Kalu’s Mandate,” a radio program on FLO FM in Umuahia, Abia State, Kalu said a deliberate approach was being taken to achieve the objective. He clarified that the Peace In South East Project (PISE-P), an initiative he recently launched to address security challenges in the region through non-kinetic measures, remains committed to reconciliation, including involving Nnamdi Kanu in the peace agenda. His words: “The PISE-P has reconciliation in the mix of what we are trying to achieve. We recognize the importance of our brother, Nnamdi Kanu, in the peace agenda we are pushing. That’s the truth. And I have been very vocal about it. I am not hiding it. “I have always told people that I will never deny Nnamdi Kanu. He’s my brother. We come from the same place, and I will never be happy having him incarcerated when we can have him out and increase our pursuit towards peace. “But we may not advance all the things we are doing backdoor, but I can assure you that all the powers-that-be in this country know that people like us are not sitting on the fence. I don’t know about the next person but I am talking about Benjamin Okezie Kalu. I am not sitting on the fence about it. I am lobbying. “We cannot go about this before the court. I am more interested in using a political solution towards resolving this. So, I am asking for one or two things from the federal government. “The last time I was with Mr. President, I discussed with Mr. President on the need for the elders of Igbo land to come, sit and engage with him. And I know that one of the topics that will come up there is this our brother. “We will also thank him for all the good things, the appointments he has been giving to Igbo people. So, while the court is doing what they are doing, I will not truncate legal processes, but some of us are not afraid to identify with him and to ask for him to be released. “Any other thing can follow up after that. So, that is what is going on at the moment, and those who are close to him will assure you we are working closely on this mandate. Is it achievable? The answer is yes. “And I am happy with the statement that he made the last time he was in court. He said all those who are causing violence are not IPOB people, that anybody who is using his name to be causing violence is a hater of Ndi Igbo. “Look, Igbos are not known for violence. We are known for trade, being creative. Call it Nollywood; we are the engine room that started the creative industry. We are not thieves, not known for violence. We put our energy towards creating wealth.“We are not life killers, and anybody coming now to introduce what is strange to us, it’s either the person is not an Igbo man, or we should question where he is coming from.”

WE’LL LEAVE LABOUR PARTY IF INTERNAL CRISIS PERSISTS – PETER OBI

WE’LL LEAVE LABOUR PARTY IF INTERNAL CRISIS PERSISTS – PETER OBI Peter Obi, a former Anambra State governor and Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 general elections, has said that he might abandon the party if the internal turmoil persists. Obi said he had been striving hard to solve the internal crisis in the party, but will not die with the party. The Labour Party (LP) finds itself embroiled in a leadership and ownership dispute, primarily revolving around the conflicting factions led by Julius Abure and Apapa Lamidi. This crisis has deepened with the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) asserting ownership over the party. The discord reached a crescendo when Julius Abure was controversially reelected as the National Chairman during a convention held in Anambra State. Notably, Peter Obi boycotted the convention, citing the failure of the party leadership under Abure to conduct extensive consultations with key stakeholders beforehand. In his statement, Obi emphasised the necessity of undertaking corrective measures to salvage the Labour Party. He expressed his unwavering commitment to fostering positive change in Nigeria, prioritising national interests over party affiliations. Obi said, “Our engagement is about Nigeria; they are trying to change our focus. What we want to do is not about the Labour Party; it is about what the Obidients want to do about Nigeria. “We are thinking about water, we are thinking about power, we are thinking about employment, and we are thinking about security. That should be our focus. “The other matter we will deal with. We were somewhere; we didn’t start with Labour. “I’m a Christian. Jesus said, When you go into a city, try to change them; live with them; fast with them. In the end, if you can’t, come out and even wash the sand that is on your shoes. “He didn’t say go there and die with them. I tell you, I’m making spirited efforts to change them (LP), but I’m not going to die with them. “That will not stop what we set out to do. We will try to change them (LP); if we can’t, we will leave them; we will not die with them.”

MBAH, SOUTH EAST GOVERNORS CONSPIRING TO DESTROY US – IPOB

MBAH, SOUTH EAST GOVERNORS CONSPIRING TO DESTROY – IPOB WeThe Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has accused the Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, and other Southeast governors of conspiring to destroy the group. The IPOB’s spokesman, Emma Powerful, raised the alarm in a statement issued on Monday. Powerful said IPOB is working hard to provide security and direction that many Southeastern Governors have failed to deliver. He further alleged that IPOB’s counterparts in the North are being funded and protected by the Nigerian government, unlike Southeastern governors. Emma Powerful added that the conspiracy to destroy IPOB would fail because they remain the last line of defense in the region. The statement read: “The attention of the global family and movement of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) ably led by the great and amiable leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, has been drawn to the plan of the Nigeria selected Governor of Enugu State, Dr Peter Mba, to destroy IPOB in that state. “It is unfortunate that Peter Mba wants to tread the path of shame and destruction, which he has seen backfire on others who have tried. “IPOB is working hard to provide security and direction that many Southeastern Governors have refused or failed to provide. “While their counterparts in the Northern territory are being funded and protected by the Nigerian government, Southeastern Governors are conspiring to destroy IPOB, who is their last line of defense in Biafra Land.”

LAMENTATION: MY OWN COUNTRY DENIED US – ALLEN ONYEMA, AIR PEACE BOSS

LAMENTATION: MY OWN COUNTRY DENIED US, ALLEN ONYEMA, AIR PEACE BOSS The Chief Executive Officer, CEO of Air Peace Airlines, Allen Onyema, has narrated how his airlines suffered what he called both internal and external conspiracies. Onyema disclosed this on Monday while fielding questions on Arise Television’s Morning Show programme. Onyema said ‘his own country’ denied Air Peace and threw back its application for a Technical Country Operators (TCO) permit, which could have allowed the airlines to start going into any European country. He lamented that it took the nation’s leading airlines seven years to get the designation to go into London. “You suffer what I call both internal and external conspiracies. It took us seven years. We got the designation, I think about six and a half years ago to go into London. Since then, it has been a Cat-and-Mouse game. “We actually procured our three 777s because of this route, not for any other route,… However, we were not allowed to go. “Whether you like it or not, there is what is called international aero politics which is very dirty. We applied for the TCO. TCO means Technical Country Operators permit, you must get that one before you start going into any European country, UK inclusive. And the TCO organization from Europe wrote our Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority- Do you know Air Peace? Do you know about their designation? And we were denied. My own country denied us, so they threw it back. “We went back to the NCAA, they said, oh, we didn’t tell them. Who designated us, the Federal Ministry of Aviation, whose duty it was and still is to do that. We said okay, we’re ready. They refused, they said until they allow us to apply. So, we got a designation from the Federal government, and the NCAA, under the same Federal Government, was telling us that we should not make any application towards going into the UK.”Onyema suggested that Nigerian airlines need all the necessary support they could get from the Federal Government.

SCIENTIST PROVIDES EVIDENCE THAT JESUS ROSE FROM DEAD

SCIENTIST PROVIDES EVIDENCE THAT JESUS ROSE FROM DEAD A scientist from the University of Washington in St. Louis, Joshua Swamidass, claims that there is strong evidence to support biblical account that Jesus Christ rose from dead. “I am a scientist. Yet on Easter I celebrate the fact that Jesus rose from the dead some 2,000 years ago. This event is a milestone. In the same way that confident faith in science is tied to evidence, so is the faith I have in resurrection,” he wrote in a 2017 article for Forum Veritas. The researcher argues that the resurrection of Jesus had a huge impact on history. “No other event in all of recorded history has reached so far beyond national, ethnic, religious, linguistic, cultural, political and geographic boundaries,” he notes. Swamidass uses the Bible to support his view, claiming that its prophecies predict the life, death and resurrection of Jesus. “These prophecies contain specific details that Jesus and his followers could not control,” the scientist writes. “For example, before the Romans invented crucifixion, Psalm 22:16 described Jesus’ hands and feet being pierced,” he explains. He also notes that “Jesus was a real person in history who died,” which is evidence that he did not fake his death. “Several manuscripts from various sources, including Jewish historians, describe a man named Jesus who lived and was executed,” he points out. “Specific details about his execution confirm that blood and water poured from a spear wound in his side. He really died, not just unconscious,” he claims. Swamidass notes that “early resurrection accounts and prophecies predicting them have been reliably transmitted through history.” A 2017 BBC survey found that one in four Christians in the UK do not believe Jesus has come back to life. The Reverend Dr Lorraine Cavanagh thinks it may be because adults don’t want to believe in things in the same way they did when they were children in Sunday school.”We’re talking about adults here. And adult faith requires constant questioning, constant reinterpretation, which, by the way, is what the modern Church is really about,” Cavanagh emphasises.

TRUMP WANTS BIDEN TO APOLOGIZE FOR DECLARING EASTER SUNDAY ‘TRANSGENDER OF VISIBILITY’

TRUMP WANTS BIDEN TO APOLOGIZE FOR DECLARING EASTER SUNDAY ‘TRANSGENDER DAY OF VISIBILITY Former President Trump has called for an immediate apology from President Joe Biden to millions of Christians and Catholics for proclaiming Easter Sunday as Trans Visibility Day. Trump campaign said that the action is part of the Biden administration’s ‘years-long assault on the Christian faith.’ Trump’s demand for an apology from President Biden came after prominent politicians and conservative commentators declared outrage over the ‘Transgender Day of Visibility’ on the most solemn Christian holiday. House Speaker, Mike Johnson posted on X saying that “The Biden White House has betrayed the central tenet of Easter — which is the resurrection of Jesus Christ,” Banning sacred truth and tradition—while at the same time proclaiming Easter Sunday as ‘Transgender Day’—is outrageous and abhorrent. The American people are taking note.” Biden sparked fury over the week by declaring March 31 “Transgender Day of Visibility,” which this year is also Easter Sunday. However, Trump’s national press secretary, Karoline Leavitt, called it “appalling and insulting” that Biden “formally proclaimed Easter Sunday as ‘Trans Day of Visibility.’” Leavitt said Biden’s announcement is an example of his administration’s “years-long assault on the Christian faith.” “We call on Joe Biden’s failing campaign and the White House to issue an apology to the millions of Catholics and Christians across America who believe tomorrow is for one celebration only — the resurrection of Jesus Christ,” she said.Leavitt also accused the Biden administration of banning religious egg designs in its Easter Art Event, which part of the White House’s Easter traditions that include the annual Easter Egg Roll.

2024 BUDGET: SENATOR ABANDONS LIVE TV INTERVIEW TO AVOID ‘WAHALA’

2024 BUDGET: SENATOR ABANDONS LIVE TV INTERVIEW TO AVOID ‘ ‘WAHALA’ Apparently, to avoid suspension from the Senate, Senator Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe, on Sunday, abandoned a live TV interview midway over the subject of the 2024 Budget in order to, according to him, avoid facing ‘wahala’. The Senator, who represents Cross River North Senatorial zone, was a remote guest on Arise News Channel’s breakfast show, and one of the anchors took him to task on the details of the 2024 Budget. Drama, however, ensued when the lawmaker said he did not scrutinise the budget line by line to which the female anchor reacted by saying that it was ‘fascinating’ that the Senator didn’t familiarise himself with the details of the budget, which she had done. Apparently embarrassed, Senator Jarigbe asked the TV anchor to tell him the details of the budgetary provisions for her senatorial district, to which the anchor replied that she did not have the ‘arithmetic’ but only scrutinised the budget on the basis of Ministry by Ministry. “I was not elected by the people of Cross River North, you are, it’s your duty, I believe, not mine (to scrutinise the budget), but let’s move on…., ” the TV anchor thereafter said. At that point, Senator Jarigbe replied saying, “Come oh, what is this budget, budget talk nah? I want to talk about my thanksgiving and representation to my people, you people are doing budget, budget, I will walk away oh. You people want me to say something that I will go and face wahala, you should allow me oh, let me serve my people quietly.” Thereafter, the connection to Senator Jarigbe was lost. The drama may not be unconnected with the fate of Bauchi Central Senator, Abdul Ningi, who was suspended by the Senate a few weeks ago over his claims during a radio interview that there were no details and locations for about N3trn projects in the 2024 budget, among others.

I WON’T LEAVE LABOUR PARTY – REPS UMEHA

I WON’T LEAVE LABOUR PARTY – REPS UMEHA Member representing Ezeagu/Udi Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Sunday Cyriacus Umeha, has said he was not going to leave the Labour Party, the platform on which he was elected to the House. Speaking during an interactive session with some members of his Constituency on Easter Sunday, Representative Umeha said he had no reason to leave the Labour Party. According to him, “I was a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and when I wanted to contest election on the platform of the party to go to the House of Representatives, they denied me ticket. God presented the Labour Party. I contested on its platform and won. Why then will I be leaving the party?, he asked. “Besides, our people have been in PDP for 24 years, and the party did not do anything for us”, he lamented. Umeha disclosed that his primary goal was how to ensure proper representation of the people of his with quality legislation and providing them with the much needed infrastructural support, through his Constituency projects. The federal lawmaker disclosed that he was in good rapport with his Governor, though they belong to different political parties. “I have good relationship with Governor Peter Mbah, even though we are in different political parties. We discuss. He respects my view, and we are all working for the good of our people, ” he explained. Umeha berated some members of the Labour Party in the Enugu State House of Assembly who, some few days ago, decamped to the Peoples Democratic Party, and said the lawmakers had cheapened themselves. According to him, “the former LP House of Assembly members presented themselves as if they had enough supporters who would decamp along with them to the PDP. They were given money to mobilise the people, but when the Governor realized that they lacked home support, he quickly cancelled the event that was scheduled to take place at Michael Okpara Square in Enugu, and the lawmakers became like orphans”.
