TINUBU IS RESPONSIBLE FOR WIDESPREAD VIOLENCE IN NIGERIA – PETER OBI

Former presidential candidate Peter Obi has again decried wanton killings across the country, blaming them on President Bola Tinubu’s leadership failure.

Mr Obi, in a statement on Thursday, expressed concern over the spate of terrorist attacks, especially in Plateau, Benue, Niger, Sokoto, Kwara and all other troubled states.

The politician said, “What have we done wrong that has brought us this level of insecurity? When can peace reign in Plateau, Benue, Niger, Sokoto, Kwara, Kogi and all the other troubled states of our nation, or should we just accept now that security in some parts of Nigeria has become a norm and impossible to handle?

“Should we just give up and accept defeat and surrender to fear while our people continue to die and our communities are ravaged and destroyed? We cannot let this become the new normal.”

Mr Obi further stated that the killings and kidnappings across the country were not inevitable, blaming the unfortunate development on leadership failure.

“The violence is not inevitable, and peace is not impossible. It is the failure of leadership that has made it feel otherwise. Silence is not an option. We must secure our nation before more lives are lost,” he stated.

The presidency could not immediately be reached for comment on Mr Obi’s allegation against Mr Tinubu.

The politician stressed the need for Nigerians to demand accountability from the government, charging them to refuse to accept a country “where some states are abandoned to chaos”.

Mr Obi’s statement followed the killing of scores of Nigerians by bandits in Angwan Rukuba in Jos North LGA of Plateau on Palm Sunday.
