A tense scene unfolded in Enugu State after residents confronted officials of the Enugu State Ministry of Transport following a road incident.

According to reports, the officials were pursuing a vehicle suspected of beating traffic regulations when the situation suddenly escalated.

During the chase, the vehicle being pursued allegedly lost control and mistakenly hit a pedestrian.

The incident quickly drew the attention of residents in the area, who gathered at the scene in anger.

Witnesses say the crowd accused the transport officials of engaging in reckless chases, describing it as a behavior they claim happens regularly.

As tensions rose and the crowd grew larger, the officials reportedly attempted to flee the scene.

However, one of the officials was allegedly left behind and was unable to escape.
Angered residents then brought out sticks and began chasing him around the area while hitting him.

In the footage circulating online, some armed uniformed men can be seen trying to intervene and rescue the official from the crowd.

But the residents refused to back down and continued pursuing him as the situation remained chaotic.

The clip has since sparked mixed reactions on social media.

Some viewers laughed at what they described as the irony of officials enforcing traffic rules while being accused of reckless behavior themselves.

Others condemned the incident as an example of mob justice, while a few commenters supported the residents, claiming it was a response to what they see as heavy-handed actions by transport officials.

As of now, there are no confirmed reports of injuries or arrests connected to the incident.
