Former Anambra State governor and 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has sent a strong message to election officials ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking during a public gathering in Akwa Ibom State, Obi warned that anyone who fails to properly count votes will be held accountable by the people.

He told the crowd that Nigerians must not allow their votes to be ignored again.

“In the upcoming election in 2027, anybody who refuses to count our vote, we will count the person join. Anybody who refused to count our votes in 2027, we will count him.”

Obi stressed that the power of democracy depends on the will of voters being respected.

He urged citizens to participate actively in the process and defend their votes peacefully.

He also called on electoral officers and political actors to act with integrity.
According to him, Nigeria cannot progress if election results do not reflect the choice of the people.

The former governor reminded supporters that credible elections are the foundation of good governance.
He said 2027 must mark a turning point for transparency and fairness in the country’s electoral system.

Obi’s political journey has been shaped by disputes over internal party processes.
He left the Peoples Democratic Party before the 2023 election due to disagreements over its presidential nomination procedure.

Peter Obi later joined the Labour Party and contested the 2023 presidential election on its platform.

His campaign gained massive support, especially among young Nigerians, and focused strongly on accountability and clean governance.
