WE WILL NEVER BACK DOWN FROM SUPPORTING NIGERIAN CHRISTIANS – US CONGRESSMAN

OIP 71

United States Congressman Riley M. Moore has strongly condemned a recent threat issued by the Islamic State (ISIS) targeting Christians in Nigeria, warning that the extremist group’s declaration underscores the persistent danger posed by terrorist organizations operating in the country.

In a statement shared on his verified social media account, Moore said ISIS had released a message demanding that Christians in Nigeria either convert to Islam or face death.

The lawmaker described the threat as a brutal reminder of the ideological violence fueling insecurity across parts of West Africa, particularly in Nigeria’s conflict-affected regions.

Moore reaffirmed his commitment to supporting persecuted Christian communities, stressing that the United States would not retreat from defending religious freedom.

“We will never back down from supporting our brothers and sisters in Christ,” he said, emphasizing the moral obligation to confront extremist violence wherever it emerges.

The congressman also welcomed what he described as growing cooperation between the Nigerian government and the administration of President of the United States in combating radical Islamic terrorism. According to Moore, coordination between Abuja and Washington is critical to dismantling terror networks that threaten civilians, destabilize governments, and undermine regional security.

Nigeria has faced years of insurgency linked to jihadist groups, including factions aligned with ISIS, particularly in the northeastern part of the country. The violence has claimed thousands of lives, displaced millions, and heightened concerns over religious persecution and communal tensions.
