ENUGU VETERAN JOURNALISTS LAUD GOV MBAH’S ACHIEVEMENTS

The Media Veterans Association, Enugu, has applauded the governor of Enugu state, Dr. Peter Ndubisi Mbah, for his landmark achievements in the last two years in office.

According to Mrs Josephine Prest, Chairman and Okey Nwachukwu, Secretary, respectively, the commendation followed the outcome of the resolution reached at the end of their 129th General meeting in Enugu recently.

The group pointed out that they had watched with admiration and sincerity the impressive strides of Enugu state under his stewardship emphasising that Enugu state never had it so good since its creation in 1991.

“As professionals in our respective areas of communication, we have followed with keen interest the policies and programmes of your government since your assumption of office and wish to state categorically that your strategic intervention in various spheres of governance has not only been exceptional but monumental.

“Your government has candidly changed the landscape of growth and development in critical areas of human endeavour. Suffice it to say that the infrastructural development architecture that now characterises Enugu state has created the enabling environment for the state to become a destination choice for Tourism, Commerce, Investment, Conferences, Transportation, Digital Learning and Technical Education, Agro-technology, Healthcare Services among others,” they commended the governor.

They also lauded the governor for his intervention in power distribution in the state which had aided business growth, pointing out that “the existing business wallets supported by the State Electricity Power Investment, otherwise known as Main Power Electricity Company has given impetus for businesses to thrive.”

The association equally commended Mbah for the recent launch of the Enugu airline, Enugu Air, saying that it was an “Emerald Project,” with its fortunes of business opportunities as well as the completion of the Enugu International Conference Centre, a sure destination choice for conferences, including the 300-bed world class specialist hospital nearing completion.

On the welfare of workers and retirees, the veterans noted that Mbah alleviated the suffering of many with prompt payments of salaries, pensions and gratuity and urged him to sustain it.

They hailed the governor for his urban renewal drive that had gradually been returning Enugu to its former glory as the nerve centre of the East, pointing out specifically the security that has been strengthened.

“It is worthy of note that Enugu is gradually regaining its former status as the regional capital of the old Eastern region, considering the on-going rehabilitation projects such as the Hotel Presidential, Urban Renewal, Enugu Urban Water Scheme, among others that readily comes to mind.

“The serene security environment occasioned by the Security apparatus out in place by your government is to say the least second to none,” they commended.

The veterans who pledged their unmitigated support for the governor’s administration, urged the government to “sustain the current security status in place bearing in mind the reckless cases of banditry bedeviling our border states of Benue and Kogi states.”
