APGA WINS 21 CHAIRMANSHIP, COUNCILLORSHIP SEATS IN ANAMBRA

The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has won all the 21 local government chairmanship and councilorship positions in the local government elections conducted in Anambra State on Saturday, September 28, 2024.

The Chairman of the Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC), Genevieve Osakwe, announced the results at the ANSIEC office in Awka late Sunday.

Osakwe stated that APGA secured all 21 chairmanship seats, and also won the councilorship positions in each local government area, as confirmed at the ward level.

Describing the election as the fairest, Osakwe emphasized that the commission meticulously collated and analyzed the results to ensure accuracy.

She gave details of the total votes scored by APGA candidates, declaring them winners based on the highest votes cast by the electorates.

Osakwe praised the citizens of Anambra State for their strong turnout and expressed gratitude to security agencies for maintaining peace and order throughout the process.

She stated, “This is to affirm the result of the chairmanship and councilorship election held on September 28, 2024. The commission carefully collated and analyzed the results to ensure that there were no mistakes.”

“We ensured all scores and parties were announced at the polling units yesterday. We are here today to affirm the results as recorded. The election held at all polling units across Anambra State on September 28 was free, fair, and credible.”

However, defeated candidates of the opposition parties that participated in the election and their officials were not present at ANSIEC office when the final results were declared around 8:20 PM on Sunday.
