MIYETTI ALLAH PRESIDENT HAILS PRESIDENT TINUBU FOR CREATING MINISTRY OF LIVESTOCK DEVELOPMENT
The establishment of the new Ministry of Livestock Development by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has received significant backing from Alhaji Bello Abdullahi Bodejo, the National President of Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore.
Bodejo strongly supports the ministry, arguing that opposition to it stems from those who benefit from the ongoing herder-farmer conflicts.
In an interview with Sun Newspaper, Bodejo urged President Tinubu to open all grazing reserves nationwide and emphasized the need to allocate specific areas for Fulani herders in every state.
He highlighted the presence of existing marked grazing reserves in some regions and stressed the importance of providing essential facilities such as education, medical care, and electricity within these reserves to settle herders.
Bodejo believes that establishing these facilities would help reduce conflicts and criminal activities among herders.
He pointed out that providing a stable environment for the herders would promote peaceful coexistence and address the root causes of the herder-farmer clashes.
When asked whether the new Ministry of Livestock Development implies creating designated areas for Fulani herders in each state, he affirmed this, advocating for the federal government to utilize the already marked grazing reserves and establish a place for Fulani herders in every state.
He believes this initiative would be beneficial, ensuring that each state has a dedicated grazing reserve.
Bodejo praised President Tinubu for addressing the long-standing issue of grazing reserves, which had been previously proposed under various names like RUGA, cattle colonies, and ranching.
He commended the President for his decisive action, noting that this bold step had earned Tinubu the nickname “President Action.”
He expressed that settling herders in designated areas would foster peaceful coexistence and reduce the need for herders to trek long distances, which often involves elderly, teenagers, and infants.
Badejo saw the initiative as a crucial step towards resolving the herder-farmer conflicts and improving the overall well-being of the Fulani herders.Hear him: “What I want the federal and the implementers to understand is that there are already some marked out grazing reserves in some places. They should carve out a place for them (Fulani herders) in every state and put them there. It is going to be a good thing. There is supposed to be a grazing reserve in every state.”
