ADANI MASSACRE: LP CONDEMNS HERDSMEN ATTACK, SAYS NO TO PROPOSED RANCHING

The leadership of Labour Party (LP), Enugu state chapter, has condemned the gruesome murder of many people in Adani community at Uzo-Uwani local government area allegedly by suspected Fulani herdsmen.

The chairman of the party, Barrister Casmir Agbo, and the Secretary, Titus Odo respectively, who condemned the dastardly act in a statement, attributed the attack to the tacit approval of the state government to operate ranch for the Fulani cattle.

The duo condemned the Mbah-led government for not visiting the scene of the incident nor carer to issue a statement in that regard.

“The leadership of the Labour Party received with utter dismay the heart-rending news of the gruesome murder of yet-to-be ascertained number of innocent and defenseless number of people by Fulani herders at Adani, Uzo Uwani.

“We condemn in strong terms the killings and massacre apparently engineered and perpetrated by the enemies of the state. We wish to state that it is sacrilegious, wicked, barbaric, inhuman, criminal and morally reprehensible.

“It’s disgustingly disturbing that those whose business is to protect lives and property of its citizens turn their back and do practically nothing in times like this. It’s sad to note that not even a social media condemnation of the dastardly and gruesome killings has emanated from Gov. Peter Mba’s media aides not to talk of a visit to the scene by the Governor,” they accused.

“Let’s call a spade a spade. Obviously, this recent killing at Adani may not be unconnected to the much- publicised ranching which the state government allegedly entered into agreement with the northern oligarchy to establish in some parts of Enugu state, particularly, Uzo Uwani in Nsukka area of Enugu state. We cannot continue to live in perpetual fear like this like a conquered people.

“While we commiserate with the families of the victims and the entire ndi Enugu who are traumatised by the killings, we also urge the security agencies to up their ante by being proactive rather than allowing calamity of unimaginable proportion to strike before dishing out flimsy and flabby excuses with the attendant promises of tracking down the perpetrators,” the statement said..

IT’S FAKE NEWS, THERE’S NO PLOT TO IMPEACH ME – AKPABIO

IT’S FAKE NEWS, THERE’S NO PLOT TO IMPEACH ME – AKPABIO The President of the Nigerian Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has debunked a viral report speculating a plot of his potential impeachment. “If they have a lot of traffic… Who ever brought out this fake news must be getting a lot of payment because of the traffic going on. I hope the public is aware that this is total fake news and the chamber is very stable and the issue of impeachment does not come up,” Akpabio said while debunking the report during plenary on Wednesday. Reports had emerged online alleging that Department of State Services (DSS) operatives stormed the National Assembly (NASS) complex on Wednesday amid a plot to impeach the Senate President. The report highlighted growing speculations that a faction of disgruntled northern senators, reportedly dissatisfied with President Bola Tinubu, is attempting to revive a previous initiative to oust Akpabio from his position. It is common practice for parliaments worldwide to maintain dedicated internal security personnel tasked with ensuring order and safety within and around parliamentary premises. In addition to the internal security forces, other security agencies are deployed to safeguard lives and property in the event of any security breaches or threats that could disrupt the activities of lawmakers and staff, particularly when internal security resources are stretched. On Wednesday morning, the viral report also claimed that DSS personnel, dressed in dark suits and wearing dark sunglasses, were strategically positioned from the main entrance to the second gate and at all other access points within the premises.
