ACCOLADES FOR HOUSE OF REPS MEMBER, SUNDAY UMEHA, AS HIS PEOPLE TREATED HIM TO CIVIC RECEPTION
The saying that a prophet does not have honour in his own place was put to lie during the Yuletide as the people of Isiokwe Akama Oghe in Ezeagu Local Government Area of Enugu State gathered in their numbers to give honour to one of their own, Rt. Hon. Sunday Cyriacus Umeha, Member, representing Ezeagu/Udi Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.
The reception which attracted dignitaries from all walks of life, including the immediate Member representing Ezeagu/Udi in the House of Representatives, Hon. Dennis Oguerinwa Amadi, Labour Party faithful at both the state and local government levels, Igwe-elect of Akama Oghe, Chief Onyeka Ofodile, business tycoon, Chief Kelvin Ofoegbuike, among others, was graced with various cultural events and traditional dances.
In their welcome address read by the President, Isiokwe General Assembly, Chief Ifeanyi Okeke, the people expressed gratitude to the Almighty God for making it possible for Chief Umeha to summount all obstacles to emerge victorious in his quest to represent Ezeagu/Udi in the House of Representatives.
They extolled the excellent qualities of Rt. Hon. Sunday Umeha even before he joined politics, and said they were quite confident that Chief Umeha would give the people of his Constituency a very good representation.
They however appealed to the Honourable Member to use his good offices to attract developmental projects to the area, such as construction of link their roads, provision of portable water, youth empowerment projects, among others.
Earlier, on his arrival to the civic reception venue, the people welcomed Rt. Hon. Sunday Umeha with a 21-gun salute. They later presented him with various gift items as well as a plaque as a mark of honour for his previous services.
In his reaction, Rt. Hon. Umeha expressed deep gratitude for the civic reception accorded him by “my very own people, ndi Isiokwe Akama Oghe”.
He said, “the euphoric cheers and accolades that greeted my arrival at the event will remain deeply cherished.
“As I have always maintained before and after the election, my representation will not only be rhetoric, but action-packed.
*Over the past months, we have made significant progress in identifying most of the challenging needs of our people in different strata, and I assure you that we have taken commensurate steps in addressing them.
“My representation will continue to be people-centric, and together, with a united front, we will take Agbaja to greater glory”, he said.
Rt. Hon. Umeha also thanked Rt Hon Dr Amadi Dennis Oguerinwa and Wife, Chief Kelvin Ifoegbuike, Chief Onyeka Ofordile, for adding colour to the event with their esteemed presence.”Many thanks go to the organizers and all who found time in this busy season to partake in our joy and thanksgiving,” he concluded.
