Still On Rampaging Fulani Herdsmen

They maim and they kill innocent villagers. They rape their women, destroy their farmlands and burn down their houses. They equally invade churches and other places of Christian worship and murder people communing there with their Creator, and nothing happens to them. 

No day passes without some reported cases of Fulani herdsmen, attacking one village or the other, and in the process, destroy valuable property and dThey maim and they kill innocent villagers. They rape their women, destroy their farmlands and burn down their houses. They equally invade churches and other places of Christian worship and murder people communing there with their Creator, and nothing happens to them.

No day passes without some reported cases of Fulani herdsmen, attacking one village or the other, and in the process, destroy valuable property and despatch many people to their untimely graves. Nigeria has now become worse than Lebanon where people are killed on daily basis.
This year alone, no less than 2,000 Nigerians were reported to have been brutally murdered by these so-called Fulani herdsmen. In Benue State, for instance, on January 1 this year, 73 people were killed by this murderous group, just as a Catholic Church in the state was also attacked and seventeen worshippers, including two priests attending an early morning mass, brutally butchered to death. Since then, it has been killing, killing, killing, everywhere.
The situation is not different in several other states like Plateau, Nasarawa, Taraba, Kogi and Adamawa, where people are daily killed by these so-called Fulani herdsmen, armed to the teeth with AK 47 rifles, and perhaps, assisted by some other security agents. This was what made a former Defence Minister, General Theophilus Danjuma, to openly lament that there was “ethnic cleansing” going on in Nigeria.
The latest orgy of killing is the about 200 people said to have been killed last Friday by suspected Fulani herdsmen in three local government areas of Plateau State. This was in addition to the burning down of their houses and destruction of valuable property. Even though the police had admitted only 86 deaths, some people however believe that the figure should be multiplied by three. This was because of the perchant of the police to always play down casualty figures and not give the true picture of things that happened.
As usual, all that the federal government could do was to issue a statement, offering their condolences and condemning the “dastardly act”, and vowing to fish out the perpetrators. But they would not do anything. No arrests would be made, talk much anybody be prosecuted.
The Fulani herdsmen are a privileged group. The federal government says that they are not terrorists, even though they kill people everyday. They are treated with kid gloves, and they enjoy every immunity from the powers that be.
All sorts of reasons have been manufactured to shift blames away from them. If the orgy of killings is not dismissed as mere “communal clashes”, they will say that the people who perpetrate these heinous crimes come from Libya, that is, that they are former Ghadafi’s men now scattered across West Africa, or they will say that the murderers were merely reacting to the anti-open grazing law enacted by Benue State Government.
You will then ask whether there is also anti-open grazing law in Plateau, Nasarawa, Taraba, Kogi, and in several other states where the herdsmen are killing people like fowls? Or why attack the Church where people go to worship their God?
It is not a coincide or something out of the way that the Fulani herdsmen have been on rampage now that one of their brothers is occupying the highest office in the land. We believe that what is currently happening is carefully planned and perfectly being executed.
That is why all but one of the members of the National Security Council, such as the National Security Adviser, the Directors General of SSS and NIA, the Defence Minister, the Comptroller General of Immigration Services, the Chief of Army Staff, the Chief of Air Staff, the Inspector General of Police, etc., are from the same ethnic group with the Fulani herdsmen.
The main purpose is to ensure that these security chiefs give adequate cover and protection to the perpetrators of these heinous crimes currently engaged in ethnic cleansing and who despatch many people to their untimely graves.
